Need some help...I am almost 2 months post op open RNY. I have tried tums and Vitcan. They make my toung swell up with blisters. I am able to tolerate citrate calcuim but because they are so big I have to cut them several times. Can anyone tell me what they use or suggest some other type of calcuim. Thanks Cheryl -65

Hi Cheryl, I use liquid calcium magn citrate.. 1 tablespoon a day is all you need and it is not bad tasting. I get either strawberry or the orange flavor it reminds me of yogart. and my blood work says I am normal.. YOU CAN BUY IT AT GNC OR VITAMIN SHOPPE.. good luck cyndee

I order my calcium from VitaLady.com and they also had WLS, so they know what we need. The calcium I take comes in capsule form, so it's dissolved in the pouch easily and is easy enough to swallow! Jan

Hi Cheryl, I am a little over 2 months post-op and I take twin labs citrus chewable calcium citrate +D + magnesium. They kinda taste like sweet tarts. I think there are 3g of sugar per 4 servings. I only take 2-3 in a day. You can get them from the vitamin shoppe. You might want to call first b/c I just cleaned them out 2 weeks ago at the Orange Park store, lol. By the way, I live in Jacksonville as well. Have you heard about the new WLS Jacksonville group just forming? Well if not, you are invited to attend our second meeting this Saturday at the Regency Square Library at 10:00am. We had out first meeting last Sat. and it was really fun. There are a lot of really nice people there who have had all kinda of different surgeries by different surgeons. You can email me if you've got any questions at [email protected] Hope you can make it! -Lynn Lap RNY 8-16-05 297/250/140

I'm a twinlabs calcium citrate wafer fan myself. I suggest trying a bottle from vitamin shoppe and if you like it then order a bunch from WWW.vitacost.com It is something like $4.99 shipping no matter how much you order and the bottles are significantly less at Vitacost
