Help! Surgery Date Cancelled. Dr Missing!

Hi, I had a surgery date set for Nov. 7, ... I've been trying to get this surgery since early 2001, but ran into a wall every time I got close, or thought I was getting close. Now my surgeon -- Samuel F Cox MD -- has gone AWOL. I got a call Friday from his office saying my surgery date has been cancelled. I dissolved into tears almost immediately, and kept asking, "why?" I got a sort-of answer... he and his wife, Deborah, the program director, went to Isreal on vacation about 2 weeks ago, and they aren't coming back when they were supposed to. No one knows when they are coming back. After I got over myself - sort-of, I started worrying about Dr Cox and Deborah. Has something happened to them? They are in the Middle East, after all. Does anyone out there know anything more about this? Anyone else had their surgery cancelled with Dr Cox? Anyone get more info out of Cary or Pandora (Office ppl) than I did? I really hope nothing happened to them. I posted this on the Main message board, too, but I wanted to post it here on the Florida board just because more FL ppl. might know what happened. Trish

Hi Trish, Sorry your appointment is cancelled, I am sure the DR and Wife are ok, they are probably just having a set back, if something bad happend I doubt his office will be still functional or they would of told you it was time to find a new Doc or something to that nature....relax I am sure it is nothing..... ~~Vivian ~~

Trish, I am in Tampa and have a GREAT Doctor -- Dr. Murr. Look him up in the white pages. Or check him out at Tampa General Hospital, his office is right there at the hospital!! and he is the director of Bariatric Surgery. He is the BEST!! Take care and give Dr. Murr a call! Lila

Hi Lila, The last time I checked Dr Murr he wasn't taking Medipass/Medicaid. I think it was somewhere around last May... Do you know if he has changed the carriers he accepts?Trish
