birth control question...

hey yall.... i was wondering if anyone got preggy and was taking BC and if anyone knows the percentage of the pill that get absorbed due to the bypass? any answers would be greatly welcomed thanx! Alexa

Don't know what you doctor may say, but my surgeon tells his patients that they can no longer rely on the pill, so to find another forum of birth control because the pill is no longer absorbed in the quantity needed to prevent pregnancy. I'm having the same absorption trouble with my anti-depressant, bummer! Good luck, Karen

Hi Alexa! My doctor told me the pill was on reliable after bypass. Not sure of percentage absorbed. I use the patch instead. Hugs, Dru 254/145 at goal

Alexa, My ob-gyn said the same thing, NOT to take the pill. She recommends her WLS patients use NuvaRing. I love it! Good luck

Hey Miss Thang! As all of the ladies mentioned, its true, not enough of the hormones in BC are absorbed to make it effective, and there are so many better options out there now, women don't even need to worry about the daily pill anymore! Look into other options like IUDs, NovaRing or things like that. Let me know if I can help you anymore but your OBGYN should have some suggestions and there is nothing like doing your own research on the internet, you'd be suprised what you can learn there!

I just started trying the VCF (vaginal contraceptive film) Sold at Wal-mart. Thin square that you fold and place as close to cervix as you can, at least 15 min before and up to 3 hours. Spermicide that is 94% effective. Cant feel it. Let you know in a month if it works HAHA Ohhh sooo NOT funny.... Crystal 381/305/???
