Hi everyone. I just hopped over to the Florida board in search of information, hope that's alright with everyone. First of all, my name is Elizabeth, and I'm from Alabama. Ive been trying for a few years now to get gastric bypass, and have been unsuccessful. Insurance is always falling through, or something is always happening, and to make a long story short, its three years later, Im still overweight (and sick now), have no insurance and everything has sort of ground to a halt. Anyway, my question is this: Does Florida have any programs for people that lack insurance or otherwise lack the means to pay for this surgery? My dad lives in Ft. Lauderdale, and he and I are both in search of a program that could help, and if I could find one there that fits the description, I would be staying with him while everything was taken care of. Any information you guys could give me would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks everyone. Elizabeth

Hello Elizabeth, you might try the Voc Rehab. Good luck to you and your dad.

With no insurance if you live in Florida you might qualify for Medicade. It will pay for the surgery. There is an awesome doc in Ft Lauderdale that accepts it. His name is Dr Samuel Cox 954-928-0066. Good luck. Kat
