insulin dependent

I have type 2 diabetes and am insulin dependent. Does anybody know if the will hook me up when I get to the hospital. or wait till the surgery is over with? god bless all

I also don't understand your question but I am certain that you will be monitored closely and insulin will be adjusted. I'm excited for you that your surgery is coming up soon!

Delilah, I am also type 2 and was on oral meds - they advised me prior to surgery that I would have to go on insulin for the 1st several weeks after surgery- they checked my sugar every 4 hours after surgery and sent me home with a sliding scale- within 5 weeks I was not taking ANY diabetes meds at all. This surgery was a miracle as far as my diabetes is concerned. Be sure to ask at your final pre-op visit if they want you to take your meds prior to coming in for surgery. Good luck!! Terri

Delilah I am also Type 2 diabetic. I take metformin. My surgeion told me I probably would not have to take it. I would just make sure they are aware. So they can monitor it during your surgery. Good luck to you Vickie
