HAVE QUESTIONS ABOUT WEIGHT LOSS SURGERY

HI,MY NAME IS MARCIA AND AM 24 YEARS OLD AND I HAVE BEEN OVER WEIGHT ALL MY LIFE IN FACT AM 24 AND AM 5,4 AND I WEIGHT 341LB I HAVE TWO KIDS AND I WOULD LOVE TO SEE THEM GET OLDER.AND SEE HOW THEY WILL LIVE THERE LIVES..ME AS THERE MOTHER KNOWS THAT I HAVE TO DO SOMETHING BECAUSE I SOON MAY NOT BE ABLE TO RUN/PLAY OR EVEN WALK THEM DOWN THAT RITE PATH IN THERE LIFES.IT SCARES ME VERY MUCH THAT EVERY NITE BEFORE I LAY MY HEAD DOWN I MAY NOT WAKE UP AND SEE THERE SMALL LOVEING FACES....PLEASE UNDERSTAND THAT I WOULD NOT BE WRITE THIS IF I DIDNT NEED HELP .TRUST ME WHEN I SAY THAT I HAVE TRYED MANY THINGS TO LOSS THIS WEIGHT/NIGHTMARE!!! I SPEND ALOT OF MONEY WHEN I DID HAVE IT ON ALOT OF WEIGHT PILLS AND WORK OUT PROGRAMS I EVEN STOP EATTING AT ONE TIME WHEN THEN I GOT VERY SICK AND I NEW THATS NOT THE RITE WAY TO GO ABOUT THIS ..SO HERE I SIT ASKING WHAT CAN I DO??? I BEEN HEARING ABOUT THIS WEIGHT LOSS SURGERY FOR A WHILE NOW I BEEN LOOKING IN TO IT FOR ABOUT OVER TWO YEARS AND I JUST KEEP COMEING UP WITH ITS A 30,000 SUGERY WELL ONLY ME AND GOD KNOWS I DONT HAVE THAT TYPE OF MONEY I DO HAVE SOME INSUR...I HAVE ACCSESS PLUS..AND I GET SSI ..IF ONLY I COULD FIND OUT WHAT OR WHERE I COULD GO TO GET HELP THAT WOULD BE GREAT .OR EVEN IF SOME DOCTORS HAVE FINACEING.I MIGHT BEABLE TO PUT SOME MONEY UP FRONT..SO IF ANY ONE COULD HELP ME START THE RITE PATH THAT WOULD BE GREAT IF YOU WANNA TALK OR JUST GIVE ME SOME INFO MY E MAIL IS [email protected] THANKS SO MUCH FOR YOUR TIME IN READING THIS ...

I would maybe try calling the health ins company and ask them if they cover this and also maybe call some local surgeons and see if they host any seminars on the topic or maybe now of any companies that finance .I have only heard of one comapny that did fnancing plans- it was through the wish center and I had heard that it was very hard to get approved, alot of people take out loans against their home and such .... it is not much but I hope it helps, good luck ----- Misty

Marcia, You're doing the right thing by asking the questions and looking for help. Call your insurance company to see if they cover the surgery. That's a good start. I was denied by my insurance company but after jumping through some hoops I was approved. I'm grateful everyday that I have insurance that helped me have the surgery. Its a long hard road but you sound motivated to do it for your kids. Good luck! Rhonda

Marcia,, I remember having feelings of where to start,,,, just call your ins co first,, they will not bite and they are paid to provide you service,, so just ask specifically if its covered, if not ask them what is the reason,, and if its covered, ask if there are any qualifying cir****tances,, once this is cleared up,, then I would start looking for a surgeon.. you can access lists of surgeon off of this site,, you can also google local hospitals,,usually if they have a bariatric program its listed on their webpage,,, the more informed you are the better you are,,, just keep your spirits high,,, Christy Lap RNY 316/181/145

Marcia--You might try posting your question on the PA board as they may have better info about docs near you.
