I am 8 months out and I am having issues with Hypoglycemia. Is this happening to anyone else? I had the fobi pouch done and I am having nothing but problems. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks, Andrea M

If you are having low blood sugar, you maynot be getting enough protein. You should be getting at least 120 gr of protein a day. It was suggested by a Nutritionist to me that since we cannot eat that much protein during the day, that at least 2 x a day we should drink a protein shake made from carbohydrate free whey. What I do is mix 1 cup soy milk (regular or skim if your prefer) 4-5 frozen strawberries, 1/2 banana, and some kind of sweetner, usually about 1 packet. Mix in blender. I add a few ice cubes and drink it on the way to work which is between 6:45 and 7:30am. Then I eat breakfast around 10am, usually an omlett of somekind with cheese and veggie (mushroom, spinach). I eat lunch at around 12:30-1 which is protein and veggie. Around 3pm I have an apple with cheese. Dinner is at by 6pm. Don't know if that will work for you. Just wanted to give you an idea of my daily routine. Phyliss

hi Andrea before surgery I was a diabetic. 2 months after surgery I started to take my diabetic medication again since my meter was saying that my sugars were 180ish. But what happened was that that lowered by blood sugars so bad I called my doc and when I saw him he had me go to the ER because my sugars needed to be brought up. My question with this is are you still taking your diabetic medication..because you might just need to lay off them (after talking with your doctor of course). If you are still metering - how are your sugar levels? After that hospital incident and I spoke to the doc - he said to stop taking the medication after that he did some labs and my sugar were "perfect" til then..meaning from that point on I have not taken any diabetic nor cholesterol medication. So you MAY need to see if you should be off them (that should be determined by your doc, of course). Let me know what happens.
