Hi guys! Well, I am flying in to Orlando Sunday for a family reunion. Am I going to be able to??? I hear DENNIS is barreling his way up and it appears it's gonna skirt the west coast of FL. Since I know NOTHING about hurricanes, does this mean it's safe to fly into Orlando on Sunday? I don't know how far the bands reach out, etc... Just a little nervous! My husband and kids are coming with me and putting myself in danger is one thing...but putting THEM in danger is quite another! Thanks for any info you can give me!!!! Theresa

Hey Theresa- Well I obviously can't tell you whats going to happen....BUT....hee hee BUT----last year when the hurricane Jenne hit I was in North carolina with my sister and they cancelled the flight. It was another 5 days before I got to leave. Gov. Jeb bush has declared a state of Emergency in Florida...they do not think that the hurricane will directly hit Florida....but the ground is already satuarated and they fear severe flooding in Central and South West Florida.....Not trying to scare ya-----just a heads up on what I do know(not much)....Good Luck hon' and enjoy Florida---it really is beautiful...HOT but beautiful!...JOY

Oh my gosh! Pretty scary! I guess I will be watching the airline's website for news. I wish they could tell us ahead of time. I'm about 2 hours north of the airport. Oh well... Thanks for the heads up Joy! Theresa

Hi Theresa, I am about 2 hrs west of Orlando and I think you are going to be just fine to fly into Orlando...the storm is moving a little further west of us in the gulf so not even sure if us on the west coast will get any rain from it...but just keep ya eye on the airline you are flying...they certainly will cancel the flights if there is any danger...good luck and have a great trip.. Theresa--I just saw on tv that many airlines are waiving change fees into and out of certain airports through Monday. While Orlando certainly isn't gonna get a direct hit, it may be pretty stormy. check your airline website. BTW--How far out the bands are depend on the storm. I think I saw that tropical storm force winds would be 150 miles out from the center--but I could be wrong. If I see more--I will let you know.

Well, Theresa - I hope everything will be okay. I'm visiting family in NY but have to fly back to Orlando on Sunday. Right now I hear the storms are in KeyWest, which is 4-6 hrs from Orlando. Let's keep our fingers crossed - I need to get home!!! (LOL)
