Psychiatric Evaluation

Hi , Im a super newbi here but I called my insurance and they gave me like 6 choices of DR's in the kendall area in Miami, and I dont know which one to schedule mine with , I dont want to end up with someone who doesnt beleive in the surgery or something and mess everything up for me ( thats what my surgeons office said could happen) Is there like a list or a forum dedicated to this?? I tried looking on like about 100 profiles couldnt find the name of anyone -_- Any help would be appreciated Thanks!!

Call your surgeons office and go over the list with them. They will know if they have ever worked with any of the people on the list. Or have them give you some names and then call your insurance carrier back and see if they are on your insurance. You might have to drive across town, but it would be so worth it --to insure you have an easy time with the psych eval.

Wow thanks, you guys are awesome! I really really appreciate you taking the time to answer this I will call my insurance tomorrow to see if they cover any of those. The only reason i dont want to use the one my doctors office is recommending is cause its 250 dollars and they dont take any insurance and im on a tight budget so I have to use one thats available through humana ..... Yes I can certainly understand that. But if you get the list from Humana there may be someone on that list that your surgeon is familiar with. Miami is a big place so it will be a big list -- there is bound to be someone on it that your surgeon's office has some experience with. Other than that -- when you call for the appointment ask if they do WLS evaluations and if in general they are WLS friendly. When I was looking for someone to do my evaluation that is what I did. My surgeon is out of state so I was pretty much on my own. And a few I called flat out said they would not do the evaluations. Good luck. Red

Rosa, If I'm not mistaken Humana uses Psych Care. First call Humana and find out if your plan uses them then call and tell them you need a psych eval for Bariatric Surgery. They will give you names of Dr's. in your area. The cost should only be a co-pay! I don't have the phone number handy. Check out my profile, I have it listed under Insurance. Good Luck!
