PCP Nurse Vent
Okay I have my pre-op meeting with Dr. Marema a week from today and two weeks ago I went to my PCP forH Pyleri test EKG, and other labwork for the surgery. Well last week went I went in for the follow-up visit to review the results with my PCP and get the clearance, the nurse had forgotten to get the H Pyleri test (after I reminded her TWICE) and never asked me to give urine ( had asked her before I left if she needed anything else from me). Well I had to give MORE blood for the H Pyleri again and leave urine. Today I get the call from US Bariatrics that they had sent the wrong H Pyleri results ( I had it done back in '03 when I thought I was going to be qualified by my insurance), no urine results, and no PT/PTT blood work.
When I spoke to the PCP office they said they didn't have urine. I told them I certainly DID leave a sample (for us gals this is not an easy task) and what happened to it. They put me on with the nurse who keeps screwing things up and she said they have been having problems with urine samples. WTF? what kind of problems? they do that right there in the office.
The nurse at this doctors office is new, I miss the other nurse, she seemed to know what is going on. Maybe I am holding a grudge against this nurse because when she weighed me last week when I went in she anounced my weight very loudly ( the scale is in the middle of the office) I was mortified. It just seems like everything she does with me get screwed up, how many times can you blame the lab or someone else? I am truly considering switching doctors, not because of my doctor, I really like him, but because of his new nurse!
Anyway NOW I have to go back and give more blood ( my poor veins) and more urine (ugh) before thurday when I am leaving for Disney.

You might went to talk to your PCP if you like him and have a good relationship with him. I hate to see you change doctors in mid stream right before surgery.
My PCP has new nurse as the other one had a baby and his only working part time, so I know how you feel. I really miss her. I hardly ever had to explain things more than once as she knows me pretty well.

Hi Amy,
I agree with the person who posted after you. I would definitely discuss this with your PCP. Maybe there have been other complaints and he needs to know that his service (even through staff) is not up to par. I would especially discuss her announcing your weight. That is rude and totally unecessary. If you can't tell what it is; she should wait to let you know in the exam room. I haven't even met her and I know that with a nurse like this, I would never visit your PCP even if he was the greatest.
Care of patience is all around from the doc, to the nurse to the front desk personal. I just don't put up with it. I let my doctor know, because I am paying their salary...they work for me.
You may even let the nurse know this in a round about way too.

Sorry, you had such a bad experience with that nurse. I would have definately said something to her right then and there to but I'm a big wuss for confrontation. However, I have a good relationship with my PCP and I would definately tell him about her behavior. She seems to need an attitude adjustment if she is being careless. Don't be a pin cushion! LOL
Okay, well I went back yesterday only to be stuck 7 (yes, SEVEN!) times and not have them able to get my blood. I thnk finally the doctor had had enough after he saw the nurse trying to take it from my foot. Anyway my doctor sent me to the lab and the guy got it in one stick (yahoo!)
Thanks for all the advice and I do agree with you all that something should be said, however, I am a bit nervous right now because this nurse is the one responsible for getting all the right results to the surgeons office. I figure if I am going to do any complaining, it will be AFTER all my ducks are siting nicely in a row
