everyone lied!!!
Hi everyone,
I can't believe that I am the only person that has felt like CRAP since having this surgery. I would have vowed to be dead then feel the pain post-op...I was not prepared! Noone told me how painful it really was. To make it worse, I haven't been able to take the pain medicine as it was soooo sweet...so I've been "winging it" since the second day. OUCH!!! The pain was as bad the second day and now (thursday) I can finally walk a bit...not getting in NEARLY enough water...and the pain from the gas bubbles is unreal. The prevacid does help. I got on the scale today and it showes not a pound has been lost...why did I do this?
Umm you are for sure not the only person that has felt like crap after surgery. I had my surgery right before Charley and we had no power for 6 days while I was on liquid diet. After 1 1/2 days we finally found a generator so I could make my blenderized soups before that I was living off of pre-made protein shake which tasted like crap. Of course my family had no problem eating McDonald's in front of me at this time while I cried. I had 2 weeks worth of percocet and I took them all. I had lots of pain since our bed was on the floor in the living room, getting up and down from the floor with a pillow was horrible, no ac was horrible. I walked a lot get get rid of the gas, it worked out. With all that said....you will soon be on to the next stages of your journey. It does get better..I swear! All this pain will be a memory..then all the joy from losing tons of weight starts.

Awe Laurie, no one lied to you...I don't think anyone thinks of the pain anymore. Its kinda like childbirth pain. Its worth it and you forget it soon. Just remember surgery hurts...any type of surgery hurts.
If you can't take the medication Dr. Nye prescribed, then call his office and have them prescribe you something else. Don't suffer through pain nor get yourself down because of the pain. It's part of the process and it will get better and you will soon forget about it. Believe me. No pity parties allowed!

Awww Laurie! I am so sorry that you are in so much pain. I agree with the pp about if you can't take the meds call Dr Nye! There is no reason for you to be in so much pain...Did you have lap or open?
Hi Laurie,
I'm not that far out and can still remember the misery as well.
I wasn't aware of the group support here and felt very alone/isolated.
Very important.. deep breathing... Something that I didn't do very well because of the pain... I ended up back in the hospital with Pnemomia.
May need to get another med from your doc so you can handle the deep breathing..
Everyone's here for you.. each day should be better than the last...
Your on the losing side now, hang in there!
I understand completely....in the beginning I thought everyone including Dr. Nye had lied to me about the pain. It was so awful. It will get better though. Just make sure you keep your doctor's appointments and be sure to get labs done before 3 months out. I was exactly 3 months out and due for labs when I had a cardiac arrest because my pottasium and magnesium dropped out. I'm not saying this will happen to you, I'm just saying to be careful and make sure you do everything that your suppose to do even if you have to remind them.
Call Dr. Nye's office and tell them you need something else for pain, they will give it to you.
Please take care and you will be in my thoughts and prayers.
