Well its almost 4 weeks post op this Friday! I go to my one month appointment on thursday. Down at least 21 lbs from surgery, and 28 from the start of the surgery process. Fitting into a size 14 skirt now, yippie! My stomach seems sensitive, and I have to be sure I am calm and not emotional when I eat, or eat after being real busy. I like the taste of food, but am not hungry. Keeping a list of what I eat and drink helps me get my requirements in. Oh, walked 3 miles today, and felt great! Question: Have others here also thrown up alot? I don't do it every day, but several times a week. Usually its do to emotions, and sometimes eating something that might have had some hidden sugar in it. On sunday I ate some steak that was marinated, and that set me off for several hours, yuck! Haven't gotten sick since Sunday night. Also, do you go to the bathroom (number 2) every day or do we go less now that we are eating less? Last question, I am trying to check up on Syb, Karen and Sally who had surgery on the 24, and 25th of may, has anyone heard from them? Thanks so much to all of you for your help and encouragement. So many of you have written me and have encouraged me richly. Can't tell you what a blessing you are in my life, thank you friends! (big hugs) love and blessings to all, Tami

Hey Tami, It sounds like you are doing awesome. At the beginning I think I threw up every day. Now I do it once in a blue moon. My surgoen told me no steak for 6 months because it is really tough to digest. Your body obviously rejected it........lol. I go "number 2" everyday. If I skip a day I make up for it the next day. Question for you...Are you going to be in Orlando for the event? If so I will see you there. Hugs, Christine

Hi Tami!! I got sick in the beginning if I was eating and my kids started to fight around me. I had to eat alone for a couple months..well not around my kids. I still have to stay calm while eating, I do get an upset pouch occasionally if they start to fight around me. Also at first if I was busy and forgot to eat most of the day, I would get the same upset pouch feeling when I ate. As for the steak...I just started a month ago eating steak and I am 10 1/2 months out. It made me feel horrible 2 weeks ago, but I have eaten it 2 times since and I have been fine. I would wait on the steak honestly til your over 6 months. At first I went to the bathroom like once per week, I blamed it on eating less because that makes sense to me. Now it depends on what I am eating, how much I am eating and stress in my life. But I go atleast 2 times per week. My doctor did tell another patient I know to take the little pink pills once a day to be regular. I did that for awhile and still wasn't going everyday. How was your recovery in Buffalo? We came home from vacation a week early...I told the kids to stop fighting and they didn't so I drove home a week early. Tracey

Hi Tami!! What a great update! I'm so happy for you! Yes, I throwup a couple of times a week. It's my own fault though, not chewing the food enough, or taking a too-big bite. I need to cut all my food before I sit down I guess. I think in our blue binder from US Bariatrics, it talks about bowel movements, and that it is normal to go every other day. That's me right now. I'm doing great also. And yes, my tummy is sensitive, especially where the G-tube came out. If I lean against the counter and hit that spot - very tender. My problem right now are the protein shakes. I still need to drink one a day and the Atkins, which I have liked and tolerated so well, are now making me seriously nauseated! I don't understand it. My 4 week appt is Thursday also at 10:30. Don't know how much I have lost since my two week checkup, I dont have a scale I trust. Thanks for the update Tami - hope we hear from Sally. I didn't get to meet Syb, but hope she's doing well also. Bye for now, Karen

Tami, Glad to hear you're losing! I agree with what everyone has said regarding steak. It wasn't on my eating plan a month out of surgery. I'm 5 months out and I think I started eating steak at 3 months. I've thrown up 3 times in 5 months, twice due to broccoli not cooked well enough, and the third time I'm not sure why I threw up! Possibly I ate one bit too many...not sure. As for the BM question...I celebrate on a day when I have a BM! It's normally only once or twice a week. I take Fiber choice and drink all my fluids and I've noticed that helping me move the needle to twice a week. Good luck and I hope we meet soon! Rhonda
