Today I went shopping at Bath And Body Works with a friend. I was on my scooter and was proceeding to check out my items. I made a comment stating, "that their store was not very scooter friendly". The ignoramus female replied, "well we have a lot of product to put out and we're NOT going to NOT put the product out just to accomodate scooters or wheelchairs." I proceeded to tell her, "that I wasn't just a fat, lazy woman in a scooter. That I would walk in their store if I could and that I did NOT choose this way of life". She then proceeded to say, "I wouldn't think you would". Nevertheless, I went away from the store but at the same time I felt like Thank you for letting me ramble and vent. ~Roiann

Oh-- I would have been talking to her supervisor and writing a letter to their corporate office so fast it would make your head spin. If they do not have to follow ADA guidelines (which they probably do) then the least they have to do is follow fire codes and I imagine the fire codes would require the aisle to be a certain width. On second thought -- I might be speaking with an attorney!

If it makes you feel better file an ADA complaint. Make sure you tell them that when you tried to bring his to someone's attention you were told that they didn't care. She should at least get some remedial training in customer service.

Dang, I have issues with that stores layout just WALKING...and that is BS about having so much product...they set it up with those d*mn roadblock designs so people HAVE to see their products...it's like a freakin' maze!!! There is no straight path to the checkout, you have to wave through all their displays.

I have to say that I have found the same irritation with many stores. They make the entrance accessable, but that is about it. I do not use a scooter or a wheel chair, but I have twin daughters (4 yrs nw) and for the first 3 years I would be pushing them around in a double stroller that was the exact width as a wheelchair. Wll I cannot even tell you the amount of times I could not get through because of display. Even as a heavy person without the stroller I would be knock hangers off racks trying to get through somewhere. I am glad you spoke up! So one thing I noticed wile going into these stores id that most of these obstructions, i.e. displays have wheels. guess what I did. I made room for myself! I moved displays on my own to make room! I would push racks out of my way and move carts. Screw em'! if anyone said anything I would say "what if I had a wheelchair? YOU need to fix this." Anyway, you go! Keep on talking and pushing, that is the only way people will see the need for change. Oh, you can also write a letter to the company at Planetfeedback.com

Thanks everyone for letting me vent and thanks Amy for the to contact them via planetfeedback.com! Here is a copy of the letter I sent to the CEO of Bath & Body Works. June 20, 2005 TO: Neil Fiske, CEO Bath & Body Works Stores Seven Limited Parkway East Reynoldsburg, OH 43068 Dear Mr. Fiske, I would like to bring to your attention a complaint I have about the overall experience at one of your stores. I am extremely upset about this, and I hope you are able to resolve this situation. I went shopping at Bath And Body Works with a friend. Nevertheless, I went away from the store angry but at the same time I felt like crying. This store is located at: Paddock Mall SW College RD. Ocala,FL 34474. I would definitely think twice before spending money at your store again, and I don't think I can recommend Bath & Body Works Stores to my friends and family. Here's what I'd like to see happen: Train employees better in customer relations. Make the stores more accessible to the handicapped/disabled.. Thank you for your attention to this matter. I look forward to your prompt response. Sincerely, Roiann
