Question of the day....
Hello all...
My family and I had a wonderful time on vacation. We saw relatives we have not seen in 10 years. It was nice.
SOOOOO..... do you "do" family reunions? Does your family have them? How big is your family?
Well the one we just went to was on hubby's side. There are 10 brother's and sisters so there are 21 grandchildren and lots of great grands.
On my side, my mother's family only have reunions because my father was an only child. There are 14 brothers and sisters and 36 grandchildren and who knows how many great grands now. That reunion is HUGE. Usually between 200 and 300 people!
I stopped going because of my weight
but finally this year I brought myself to going to one. On the happy side, next reunion (2yrs away) I should be ALOT smaller and healthier!

I to quit going because of my weight. We have a family reunion every year in Birmingham. There are hundreds that attend. Maybe next year.... I have 4 sisters and a brother. Four kids of my own. And 5 grandkids. I still have my mother and father. And my grandmother. She will be 91 this year. If we held a reunion just with the local family there would be about a 100 of us. Both sides of my parents family is from here.
We used to go to my Dad's family reunions every year, and me and my siblings were usually the only kids, a couple of times some cousins we knew were able to be in town. We haven't gone to one in years and years and actually I think they stopped because the lady who organized them passed away. So the last time I saw all my dad's family was at his funeral...which was enough drama for me. As for my mom's side, there was never anything formal, although sometimes the church picnic seemed like it was one, I swear seemed like everyone was somehow a distant cousin. Most other ones were kinda unofficial, just went several could get together. My cousin is getting married in Vegas this October so that will probably turn out to be a reunion for my Mom and her siblings. I hope to see more of my cousins there also. I have never met the one getting married, and have only met his brother once.

As a kid growing up I hated family reunions. I just coulnd't understand.............now at 50+ years and those older family members pretty much "gone on" I cherish the memory and often sort through pictures taken at the yearly gatherings. In less than two weeks my two adult children, and their families, my older daughter's inlaws, my teenager daughter, her boyfriend, my DH and his father and wife are all meeting in Gatlinburg for some family time. We'll probably have some old friends from Knoxville visit us.........I'm looking forward to it!
