Gorging on EVERYTHING in sight!
Hi everyone...I have been doing great with anticipating my upcoming date...only 11 days to go!!! YEAY!!!! I am really not nervous about the surgery...I have made my peace with whatever God chooses my outcome to be-it is His will now...he has made this opportunity available to me for some reason...so I feel I am meant to take it. Anyway...I noticed that the last 2 days I am gorging myself on EVERYTHING...like my mind has told itself that I am not going to be eating like this anymore in less then 2 weeks, and it is desiring EVERYTHING that has caused me to be obese. I literally feel sick to my stomache (I don't usually over eat) but right now I feel like I am a balloon and if I hit something sharp, I'm going to POP!!! It really is not a case of the nerves...it's gorging, in the last 2 days, I have eaten McDonalds 4 TIMES!, Waffle House!, Church's Chicken!, etc...I really don't eat like this normally. I think my brain is rebelling ahead of the surgery. I guess that I will feel so sick for the next day, that I will not crave any of the fast foods when I have the surgery!
Did anyone else go through this?
You are not alone! I did the same thing before my surgery. I had so many "last dinners" it wasn't funny. I was eating my favorite chinese food, pizza, fried chicken, just about anything I knew I couldn't have once I had the surgery. I don't usually tell this, but one night during my "last dinners" I ate a WHOLE medium pizza. BY MYSELF! When I realized this I was horrified! Somehow I managed to lose 2 lbs before my surgery and to be honest, I don't miss that food one single bit! I would trade it for my health ANY DAY!!

Yes, I must confess...........
I ate like there was no tomorrow. I just would eat and then feel guilty and sick
but I would eat again.
It is crazy but normal. Just take a deep breath and know that soon it will change. If you are like so many of us, you will do great and the food thing will change and you will be happy. Like the saying goes: Nothing tastes as good as THIN feels.
IT IS SO TRUE. GOOD LUCK ON YOUR SURGERY AND LET US KNOW HOW YOU ARE DOING.
Carol

Laurie,
Most of us did the same thing! Just keep in mind any weight you gain now is going to be more weight to lose post-op. I gained about 12lb from my iniitial visit with my surgeon until the operation date, today I would give anything to be 12lb lighter and that much closer to goal. Oh well, can't take it back now
.
Good luck with battling your current cravings and your upcoming surgery.
Amy

Guess I'm the odd ball. I did what my doc said. I did not have a last meal, in fact was on the pre op diet for 4 weeks. Ilost 7 lbs before surgery.
I wanted to eat the"goodies"but then I thought, why? I wanted to start changing before my surgery so i would not have to work hard at it after. I did not want to add to the potential complications or make my liver any fatter (did not want to risk open abdominal surgery)
It paid off, my surgery went well, and my recovery was text book.
Blessings,
Tami
I'm right there with you Tami. I have been on the pre-op diet for 4 weeks today and have lost 17lbs. Although to be fair, I did have three instances within these past four weeks that I broke the rules and ate bread and all it did was lead to some serious cravings for carbs! I still have 6 weeks to go before surgery and want to get off as much as possible to help ensure a laproscoptic procedure. I think for me, I can stay focused for the most part because I have a specific timeline. I know this is not forever and soon I will have the powerful tool of surgery to help me.
I hope this helps Laurie, and let us know how it went at the appointment.

I went through the same thing, and wish i hadnt. Loosing 20-30lbs those couple months before surgery instead of putting on 10lbs made the difference of having open and lap surgery! Tho i was over 600lbs then.
So im sitting here with a nice little scar still waiting for clearence to return to work hopefully in another week.
good luck on you surgery and see you on the loosing side
