Hi Kasie, I hope you have been receiving my IM's...I keep missing you when you IM me...uughhhhh! lol I know what you mean...I am now 11 days from the rest of my life and SOOOO excited. I took a large "picnic" basket and filled it with all the sugar free's...jello, pudding, crystal light single serve packs...etc...so the kids and DH know what they can't eat on me! I've started adjusting my family to things that will gradually change food wise in the house...I am buying reduced sugar things for them...not all sugar free, but reduced anyway...like jelly, etc... Well, drop a line when you get a chance. Talk to you soon!!!! Laurie
All the grocery stores and WalMart carry the sugar free popsicles. I don't know why you can't find them, but I would suggest you find the grocery store manager and ask for help.
As for stocking up and protein drinks - you have NO idea what's going to taste good after the surgery. Believe me!!!! I HATED SF popsicles at first, but loved them before, so I didn't understand it.
Check out bariatriceating.com and see what kind of samples or small portions of protein you can find. Personally, I love the AchievOne coffee protein shakes and I drank some of the Roadside Lemonade early out, but your taste will change and then change again. Don't buy large quantities of anything or you will end up wasting it.
Bring very little to the hospital. I brought a pillow for the ride home and wore the same clothes to and from the hospital. Chapstick was nice because my lips were dry.
Good luck!!!

KassyI am so excited for you!(hugs)
I love unjury chocolate, and I use the unflavored to add to foods and even to my tea if I need to up my protein.
I stay away from pudding because it has empty calories that I don't need right now. My doc suggested that too. Remember we are trying to change our bad eating behaviors.
I brought a robe. I wore the hospital gown, and they gave me slippers. I brought some makeup so I did not look like a doon beastie! I think I put on perfume too. Tooth brush, and definately lip balm because your lips will be dry. Wear loose fitting clothes to the hospital because you will need them when you leave. I brought something to clip my hair up in.
The hospital gave me all the tea, protein drinks I wanted.
At home I had beef and chicken broth, lf cottage cheese, cheddar and motz cheese, herbal teas because hot tea is good to have in the morning and before meals. Skim milk. I ate ground turkey (pureed). Your doc should have a post op diet of what you can and can't eat. You also need to have your vitamins ready at home and your pain medication too.
Blessings,
Tami
