Went to the seminar last night. I was very impressed with Dr. Lord, his background, his track record, and the guidelines he follows. I came away feeling very content that he does indeed have the knowledge and experience needed to do WLS. He has a full team in place to cover each aspect of pre- and postop. As of now, he says he will probably begin doing actual surgery at Sacred Heart in August. His bariatric program director, Jan Carlo, was there also. She has had WLS herself years back so she can be very helpful and answer any questions. She is very nice, just as I had heard she was. She has worked with Dr. Lord for a few years in Virginia and decided to move her family here also so that she could continue to work with him. She is here full time now and already helping people to begin the process of getting all the preliminary things done and approval. I was also impressed with the entire bariatric program that they are putting together at Sacred Heart. From what I gathered, there will be a separate bariatric unit that is geared toward dealing with obese WLS patients, i.e., staff and equipment, exercise programs, etc. The follow-up program is a long-term one too. Just thought I would post my first impression of Dr. Lord incase someone might be interested. Hope everyone is having a great week! Betti R.

Thanks for the reply, Amy. From what I can gather from different sources, and after attending his seminar and meeting him, I would have to agree with you that he is one of the best. I've been excited ever since his seminar, and I am so glad now that I waited long enough to meet him before I made a decision. I just had a gut feeling I should wait. We'll see what happens from here. Looks like I am one step closer in my decision making process. Can't just jump into something without thinking it through, don't cha know!! Betti R
