Anyone have their WLS thru Medicare???

I am wondering how everything turned out--approval, etc. I know you must have the surgery first and then they pay. Do you have to go thru the same procedures as other insurance programs, for them to pay??? Inquiring minds want to know. Thanks.

I don't know for sure, Roiann, but I imagine you do. They have to have some records on file as proof of need. However, I think your chances of approval are much greater on Medicare! Blessings, Tami

Hello My sister has Medicare/Medicaid... And I'm working on her having the surgery... And What Dr. Nyes Office told me is that Medicare does not do no preapproval. We just have to have everything done they require then go in to See the Dr and set a surgery date.... We have 2 more mths with my sister.. Then we can set her date... Any questions email me.. Thanks for responding! I guess I'm a little apprehensive since I got turned down before when I had private insurance. Wow! I just looked at your profile and pics and you look great!!!! I can't wait to get this done, I have been "big" all of my life and have always dreamed of being thin one day. Now maybe my dream will come true!!!

Hi, Sorry to jump in your conversation, but I am wondering how are you going about it because I just Medicaid but didn't know that they covered it. Is there a certain Doctor that you know that is more acceptable to work with patients on medicaid. i don't have a primary dr. please any info would help.

Hello Thema!!! you have to call around to see what Dr take it Or you can go on here and look... We are using Dr Nye in Pensacola... I know their is a Dr in Fort Lauerdale(sp) But not sure where all... But you can look it up on here... Go up to the top and hit Insurers... Or Post a message look for a medicaid Dr...
