My surgery is next week? Any suggestions on what to take to the hospital besides the obvious? I wasn't going to take a nice jammie, but read another post, and wondered if I should? Blessings, Tami

Tami, I just read that you hav'nt had your surgery yet and I'm asking you all these questions about the post-op. Hey but you had some good answers. Reg. what to take to the hospital. I just brought my robe ,slippers,brush,toothpaste/brush and a pair of clothes to go home in. Some people bring their PJ's but I would think that it would be uncomfortable, I mean when you have to go shower the hospital gowns are easier to get in and out of and they give you fresh ones. But DO take a robe because when you are walking around in the hospital you will feel more comfortable and more stylish. Rosie

You are right Rosie, my surgery is the 25th, but as an RN and one *****ads extensively on the food stuff, and asked 50 million questions of the nutritionalist, I think I am directing you on the right path. I'm sure those who are ahead of you can put in more input too! Just don't get discouraged Rosie! Blessinsg, Tami

Tami, In the blue book that USB gave you there is a list of what to bring to the hospital. I brought it all and only used my robe and hair brush. The hosptial gives you a toothbrush and paste. I wore a loose fitting dress the day of surgery and wore it home from the hospital as well. You won't want anything tight around your waist. Good luck on your big day and I hope we meet soon, Rhonda

I had a teddy bear that I hugged when I coughed. You will need something like that to use in the hospital and out. I also used it on my trip home as I had a long ride and it helped with the bouncing on the uneven road. My sister brought me a moo-moo that I wore home and I was glad she did rather than trying to get dressed. Once I got home, my best friend was my recliner. I slept in it so I would not toss and turn and sleep on my tummy till it healed.

Wow Tami, I thought you were post-op...U look great right now (like I said-I thought U were post-op) you'll look incredible afterwards! I know this surgery isn't about appearance as much as health...so I didn't mean to sound as thought this is a "cosmetic" surgery. Anyway, thanks for posting your question, as it helps us other pre-op's with the wisdom of our great supportive post-ops!!! They are a WONDERFUL crew and I personally thank each of them for sticking around and helping us through the path! Good luck!!!!! Laurie (P'Cola)

Tami, First congrats on your upcomming surgery. I read that you should have a personal fan. Also, I would bring non-slip slippers for walking and a light robe. I wouldn't bring jammies because I imagine they would be too painful to wear/put on after surgery. Also, I would bring a soft pillow or body pillow to have for comfort and to hold in stomach when getting out of chair /bed. I'm guessing as I haven't had surgery yet...for me reading material would be a must too. Good luck and blessings AnnaMarie
