hello everyone. i am one year out. i have my health back (many medical issues resolved) and am down 120 pounds. i started at 300 lb. i was wearing a 48-52 size....now in 16! i am so grateful. i have a couple of things i would like some sharing on from anyone who feels the call. just some words of wisdom and encouragement. i would like to lose a bit more. the weight loss has slowed and it seems i am going to need to work really hard at the rest.....kicking up exercise, cutting back even more on food intake ( i pretty much follow the food plan ....just sometimes add some sugar free treats for my sweet tooth). i have some fears that creep up now and then that the old monster will come back. i hear of people *****gain the weight and go right back into the old stuff. i don't want that to happen. i am not sure what brings on the fear....sometimes i feel it more than others. perhaps this is a healthy fear that will keep me on track. does anyone else experience this? does it ever go away? do we want it to? has anyone had experiences with struggling with food/weight post op? if so, please share so that we can learn from one another.

Jeanne, I will be 3 years out in September. I keep a very close eye on my weight. I had lost down to 172 but stay around 177, but I am happy there. I am 5'10" so I have height on my side. I weigh myself every day. If I get up to 179, then I start cutting back and go back to eating my proteins and veggies and cut back on carbs and sweets. We can start eating more. Most people who gain back (just my opinion here) usually start grazing all through the day and maybe don't realize they are doing that. And they usually graze on chips or sweets or things they shouldn't be. I don't allow myself to graze. I also have the fear of my old self coming back and that has helped me be more aware and conscious of what I am putting in my mouth. If I can answer anymore questions, feel free to email me. I don't mind. I'll be moving to FL this summer, that is the reason I'm on the FL board. Anyway, have a great day!! Shelly E. 317/175-177

HI ARE YOU NOT AMAZED A YEAR HAS GONE BY? I AM ALMOST AT A YEAR AND HAVE LOST 120 ALSO. IT HAS ALSO SLOWED DOWN FOR ME. I AM TRYING TO DO THE SAME AND EXERCISE MORE AND STAY AWAY FROM ANY LOW CARB BARS ETC. I HAVE BEEN HAVING THE SAME FEARS OF BEING OUT OF CONTROL AND GAINING IT BACK. MY DOCTOR WAS CHIT CHATTING AND SAID HE KNOWS OF PATIENTS THAT HAVE GAINED IT ALL BACK. SO I THINK IT IS GOING TO BE A PART OF OUR LIVES FOREVER. I KEEP THINKING OF WHAT DR.PHIL IS ALWAYS SAYING ABOUT REPLACING THE BAD BEHAVIOR WITH SOMEHING ELSE OR IT NEVER LEAVES?? IF YOU COME UP WITH ANYTHING,LOVE TO HEAR. GLAD YOU ARE DOING SO WELL. LIZZ
