Hi everyone, Once again, I am turning to you, my WLS family. This question is strictly for patients of Dr. Nye...did you all have to have a 2 hr computerized test as part of your psych eval? The doctor they gave as a referral (at Baptist towers) does this as part of their eval. Just looking for options. If you went to another psyche w/o this test, could you please tell me who you saw? Thanks!!!! Laurie

Laurie, I'm a pre-op patient of Dr.Nye, and I had my psych eval/MMPI at the Bariatric Center @ Baptist hospital, and I had the computer test (500 + questions), and 2 multi-choice writen test (about 20 questions). All together was about 1 1/2-2 hours total. It wasn't bad at all. And I saw Dr. Susan Weeks, she is very understanding and easy to talk to. I hope this helps some. Jerrie Be ready to pay $$. It wasn't cheap, but it will be well worth it.

Hi Jerrie, So do you have your surgery date yet? U are sooooo close! Let me know when you have it, if U want. I am here in town and would be more then happy to stop by and visit you in the hospital (I know it's nice to feel like people care.) I'm right here in P'Cola, actually just a few miles from Baptist (is that where you will be going?) You can answer this confidentially at [email protected] (that's a "l" as in lowercase "L".) Thanks for your input. I was just wondering why we have to go through this long test, when other doctors are not requiring it? I am so scared to take that computerized test. I don't understand why a computer is going to have input on my future to have this surgery?! I am hoping that they won't give me any problems with the psyche test. My carrier said that they cover the appt as long as it is related to the surgery and that I will only have a $10 co-pay. Hopefully it will all come out ok in the end. Have you gone to the nutritional group meeting? I had not been told of this until my nutritional eval lastweek. It's tomorrow (monday) from 4-6. As for all the other tests that you have undergone, all I received from Dr. Nye was an order to bring to a lab for bloodwork, the nut eval and psyche eval. Did he give you all the other "tests" at another appt with him? Thanks for your info, I appreciate it!!! I'm in SW P'Cola, U? Laurie

Laurie, Check out my post today... I'm approved, as for a date, Jamie @ Dr. Nye's office gave me a date, June 13th. I'm so excited. Jamie will contact me in a few days with all of the details, lab work, EKG, gallbadder ultrasound, I think that's all...WOW. I still have my nutritional group meeting next monday, Amy and Karen said for me to call them as soon as I have a date to sch'd the meeting. As for the lab (bloodwork) Dr. Nye gave you at the consultation, it was probably for H-pylori. He gave me mine the first visit, came back negative 2-3 days later. I hope that I'm not leaving anything out, if so, just ask. And as for the psych eval/MMPI the computer part was true/false (1 for true/2 for false) and enter to the next question. Not bad at all. But I was nervous to begin with. I feel like I'm 200 words a minute, Oh, by the way, I'm in Gulf Breeze, just across the three mile bridge on 98 east. Jerrie "got a Date...June 13, can't wait to be a loser.
