Scary night....

Last evening I had grilled shrimp for dinner. I thought I chewed good and ate slow but I guess I still overate or else there was a little garlic on the shrimp, and I get sick on garlic. (I think I had four shrimp). Anyway, I got the "burps" and started with the clear liquid phlegmmy stuff. I then got a terrific headache (not had that before) and literally had to sit up in bed and only dozed because I was afraid I would choke on the Phlegmmy stuff. I think I started feeling better about 2 AM. Anyway experience this? I'm 17 months post op and otherwise, feel great. LuvitsunnyVB~lo/goal

Unfortunately YES! I think I can't eat re-heated foods. I had gone to dinner and had chicken, baked beans, slaw and a little bread. I still had the chicken and beans left over and re-heated it the next day. I tore the chicken up and had 3-4 bites? And quickly soon after felt that aweful pain in my stomach and belching, etc..ooh my gosh I felt like I was gonna die plus I had menstrual cramps to boot. I even threw up a little bit and keep trying to put in the finger (which I know I shouldn't do) but I just wanted relief...I had that feeling for quite a bit and I took a few sips of water and laid down - and shortly thereafter felt better. I thought I might have eaten to fast or something but this is not the first time it's happened with re-heated food. I mean I ate chicken! Anyway, when you feeel like this..try sipping water. Right now I had a bit of icecream from carb control and Im feeling some discomfort - so im gonna go get some water! This is our way of life for life!

Ruth, I've had trouble with left over as well (dumping), I think that certain foods ferment a little and that's what may have caused your body to reject it. I cannot reheat things like beans & fish... Vivi

I had something similar two weeks ago. I had salmon and broccolli...the brocolli was just blanched and I know that's what triggered it. I got the belches, a weird stomach ache, a headache, phlymmy stuff with bits of brocolli in it. It lasted for FIVE hours. I'm grateful to say it hasn't happened since. Let's hope it doesn't happen to any of us any time soon! Rhonda

I get this way if I over eat on sugars. Does not matter a bite or 2 will do it. The best relief is to get rid of it one way of the other.

I get this every time I try to eat anything other than cottage cheese type food or protein drinks. I can't seem to get past those. I'm only 3 mons post op and this started at 3 weeks for me. Headache pain was so violent while vomiting my dr's had me get several scans to check it out but now we think it was a pinched nerve or pulled muscle in the best of my head or neck causing it.

This has happened to me twice, both times with fish that was to dry. Awful feeling...........I'm glad your feeling better. Was the shrimp dry?? I make sure any seafood I have is moist now. Almost to the point I get freaky. Squishing it - just making sure!! tina
