Hi Guys! How was your weekend? I hope it was restful and all that you hoped for and needed... Mine wasn't so terrific. My mother, myself and my four babies were in a car accident...we got "T-boned" on the drivers side. We all came through it ok w/o permanent injury but my son's chin was hanging from his handsome little face by the time it was over. He had between 30 and 35 stitches put in it and the first words out his mouth (bless his heart) were "well we should thank God that it wasn't worse and that we are all alive." He was saying this while covered head to toe in blood and holding his *****losed with his hand. What a little man... he turns 12 on May 19th. We are all very SORE! I need asisstance to walk as I hurt my back and legs pretty badly. My mother passed out in the middle of the road and went into shock. She was getting burned by the pavement so we had to move her. No one was helping me, so I picked her up and started carrying her across the road to the grass by myself. I made it halfway and tripped and fell. I was barefoot and my sweet momma weighs about 195 pounds so as you figured, it was pure adrenalin that lifted her and carried her! I did not realze that I was even hurt until I had all the babies and my momma safe. By the time we got to the hospital I could hardly walk. We are all ok (the other driver too) and I praise the Lord that we are! So... have you been in any car accidents, major or minor? Sallykate

Oh sweetie thank God no one was seriously injured. Yes I was in a little accident many years ago. The little Fiat I was driving wa**** broadside by a fully loaded dump truck that ran a red light. My little car went spinning or flipping down the highway (I have never been sure which). But, alas that is another story for another day.

I am sorry to hear about your accident. I was in one at 19. A gas tanker ran a stop sign and I ran my honda civic into the side of it. Me and my freind walked away with only minor injuries, but boy did that scare the heck out of me. Jenn

I've had my share, but my worse one was 12/13/93. It was a Monday, myself and my boyfriend at the time were leaving his house to go to my mom's to drop something off before going to work. We popped up over a "thrill hill" swerved to miss a dog, ran off the road, got back on the road and flipped over, slid 180ft. Thankfully he only needed a couple of stitches and I just had some bruises and a very sore neck and back. HUGS Kim

Well, Sallykate, this is a subject I could talk for hours on! First of all, I am terribly sorry to hear about your accident but happy you and your's are all ok. I know that even though it could have been worse, what happened to you was bad enough. Personally, I was in a wreck about a year ago now where a speeding taxi ran a stop sign and plowed into my pick up truck (T-boned, driver's side). Besides bruises and airbag burns to my sons face, we came out ok. My truck was destroyed but the most amazing thing was that my son never rides up front (because of the airbags) and that one day, he just happened to be up front and the impact from the accident happened to my door and destroyed the seat behind me. If he had been sitting where he normally does, he could have been killed. Makes me believe in miracles. The worst however was 09-12-1995 where I was in an accident that I still can't remember. The last thing I do remember was looking at a truck in my rear-view mirror and the next thing I remember was waking up in excruciating pain in a hospital bed. I was hurt pretty bad, neck, back injuries/fractures, severe head injury, stitched cuts, bruises. All of it kept me in and out of hospitals for years. I saw pictures of my car and can't believe I survived. The car was a toyota carolla and it was wrapped around a tree. Only the driver's seat remained, the spot where I was. Apparently the fire crew had extracated me from the vehicle's roof! The best part is the driver who caused the accident took off, ran from the scene. There were no witness', at least none that were willing to stop and help. Kinda ruins my faith in people. Thank god its all over, but the permanent damage remains. Accidents are a horrible thing. They destroy lives, property and so much more in the long run. I do what I can, but I wish there was more that could be done to prevent such pain and suffering.

Oops, I forgot, my weekend was pretty good actually. Sorry....blonde moment......We had the air & sea show down here in ft lauderdale and it was great! Even though the crowds were overwhelming, watching my hubby and son enjoy the show was all I needed. We did end up back home to watch Pensacola's Thunderbirds perform over our heads. The heat just got overwhelming and the crowds and nasty rip-tides kept us from being cooled in the ocean water. Oh yeah, and I got a chance to talk with another OH member, Alexa. What a sweetie!!!

I went to the Air and Sea show with Alexa on Saturday...did I miss you, or did you two see each other another time?

Wow...I'm glad you all are o.k. I let a friend drive my car. She said she just wanted to go around the block. We all got in and I realized quickly that she didn't know how to drive and that she was going farther than just around the block. (She was a friend who had moved away and was in town visiting) I told her to stop and let me drive several times, but she just laughed and said she was just playing that she could drive. But too late, she plowed right into a tree dead center with the little Ohio on the liscense plate (we have front both front and rear plates in Ohio). I hit the windshield, and blacked out. When I woke up I got out of the car and kept saying that I was driving, but I knew people saw us. It was my sisters car, she had passed away a few years previous. I was cited for not wearing a seatbelt and letting an unlicensed driver operate my car. I had to go to court and get a lawyer. While, since she was from out of state nothing happend to her...and there wasn't anything for us to go after to replace the car. So one big leason learned.

So sorry about your accident. I sure hope all heals well. Thank Goodness you are all safe now. I was in a accident coming off the interstate on 1-75 the van flipped over had slid through the rain. I was so frightened we were going to blow up in there. We were stuck. Fortunatly we all survived. I can relate to the aftershock. I was fine and didnt need to go to the hospital, until two hours later. I had slivered glass all in my hair arms and one of my legs. All healed well and everything back to normal.

So sorry about your accident! Thank God you are all OK. I have only ever been in one accident. In 1996, when I was still living in Oklahoma (and married!) we were on our way to a Van Halen concert. We were exiting off the interstate and traffic was backed up because of the concert traffic. Some guy driving a white Mustang rear-ended us doing about 60 mph and we were completely stopped. He sent us flying into the car in front of us, and that car hit the car in front of it. Chain reaction. Turns out the Mustang was a rental car, the guy had an accident where he ran a red light and smashed into another car about two weeks before he rear ended us. My ex-husband sprained his back and damaged his shoulder from the seatbelt. I broke my wrist in several places and fractured it in several other places. Our friend in the back seat hurt her back and neck because she was thrown in between the two front bucket seats when he hit us. We had a brand new car, it did almost $8000 worth of damage to our car. I was so mad. ~ Trish
