Hi everyone, Just want to thank everyone in advance that helps me out here. Well I am considering changing to Dr Cox from Dr Murr's in Tampa, they are just taking too long and I can't seem to ever get any answers from them when I call. I get the same response "when I hear something you will"... ... I am just so frustrated with Dr Murrs office right now, So my questions are how much did it cost out of pocket for the pysch evaluation from Dr Zimmerman. I have to fax them my eval. I already had to see if it will be ok but if it isn't I would just like to know about what it is going to cost me. I know it is $50 for the nutritionist. Then if you could just give me a little info on what happens and when I would have to possibly plan on a trip to Ft Lauderdale since it just isn't down the road...lol....thanks again for any help anyone can give me on Dr Cox's process. It's usually about $250-$300 for the psych evaluation. After you fill out the info packet and send in your records, the tests and classes are scheduled right away. It doesn't take but a few weeks. The approval process is pretty fast also. For most of us, a couple more weeks after the tests. Good luck! Big hugs, Erika L

Hi Erika, I was sure hoping you would answer my plee...lol...tell me alittle about how much the motel was that you stayed at, is it far from the hospital and how long you had to stay there, will I be able to drive myself home after I am released from the surgery stay.. Also when you go for the testing is it all done in one day so that I could possibly drive there then drive home same day?...this is almost frightening starting at the beginning again...I feel as confused as I first did when I chose to go with Dr Murr in Tampa. ...thanks for your help Erika, have a great week. I stayed at the Fairfeild Inn on N. Federal Hwy. It was just a couple of miles from Holy Cross Hospital, North Ridge Medical Center, and Dr. Cox's office(It took about 5 mins. in traffic). I got a discount on my room by telling them I was there to have testing at the hospital. The regular price is about $109.00 per night, whi*****ludes free continental breakfast. They were running a special and I got mine for only $60.00. The testing can be done in one day, if the doctors have available appointments. You can work with Carey in Dr. Cox's office on that. You have to stay in town for two weeks post-op, if you live more than a couple hours from them. With the pain meds you'll be on post-op, I'd suggest having someone drive you home. Some patients have driven themselves, but I wouldn't have been able to. Dr. Cox is wonderful, Erika L

I might also suggest a web site called Hospitalsoup.com You can look up any hospital in the country (including military hospitals) and then do a search for hotels. The search will give you a list with the hotels in order by distance from the hospital. You can make reservations there too -- but I do not know how competetive the rates are. But just getting the list is pretty neat. And a word of advice. Do all you want on line to find the best rate you can and then call the hotel. Sometimes the hotel itself will give you a better rate. It is worked for me many times. Also check with the hosptial -- sometimes they have arrangements with properties in the area.
