Moving to FL
Hello. It is me again. I don't know if you remember me, but my family is planning on moving to FL this summer. My husband is already there working. He is a sales rep and sales mosquito control products for a company based out of Sanford, FL. Anyway, we are looking for a good place to raise our children. They are 10 and 12 and this is hard for them. (They are so worried about hurricanes.)
Anyway, at first my husband liked Live Oak but now he is thinking about Levy County. He was talking to the mosquito control guys for that area and they told him that is a good area to raise kids. Anyone from the Levy County area out there? We are thinking about Chiefland. Just from what I've seen online, it seems to be a nice town. Any opinions out there? Live Oak is a little bigger, schools are bigger. They are both not too far from larger towns, like Gainesville, Jacksonville, that sort of thing. Anyway, I just thought I would say hello and let everyone who emailed me last time (thanks so much) know where we are considering. I'll let you know whenever we have a definite place.

I met a security guard who works in Gainesville and lives in Chiefland. She was at the Shands Vet Hospital when we had to take in our sick cat and was the only person there to talk to at that time of night. She said she worked in Gainesville because there's no employment in Chiefland or actually much of anything else. Not only is it a small town, but it's pretty far from everything else. It's very rural so I have no idea what the schools might be like there.
I guess it depends on what you're looking for, but it might be tough to make friends. It wouldn't be my choice, but that's just me.

Well, I've checked online and they have a Wal-Mart and a couple of grocery stores and it says they have a Curves. I'm from a town of about 2700 people, so I'm used to small. We would have to drive 30 minutes just to get to Wal-Mart or a grocery store. But, it is like I told my husband, it just depends on where we can find a place to live. We don't want to buy anything right now and prefer to rent and the smaller the area, the less options you have. Right now we are both to the point that we just want to find a place to live so we can be together as a family again. But we have to think of the school system. Live Oak schools are bigger than what we are used to. Chiefland schools are more what we are used to. Anyway, this is very hard. We need to get moved in June since the schools over there start earlier than they do over here. Anyway, thanks for giving me your opinion. That is what we need right now from people who are over there.

hello...
does he work for middleton pest control? if so good company to work for... There is a little town called apopka just outside of sanford, that is a nice area and the schools are awesome.. I owned a home there and my children went to apopka middle school.. If your use to a small town, well get ready for traffic, hot days, and alot of strip malls.. lol thats pretty much all of florida. lol ... I know one thing you do not want to live off of Semeron Blvd... Alot of traffic and its so noisy. Also there is a town called Zellwood that is beautiful but its kinda out of the way of Sanford. Sanford is about 40 mins from Disney and Universal studios. So enjoy... And good luck in Florida...
