I GOT HOME YESTERDAY BUT DIDNT FEEL LIKE GETTING ON THE COMPUTER. I WAS SO HAPPY TO GET HOME AND FINALLY GOT SOME SLEEP.THEY DIDNT LET ME SLEEP MUCH BECAUSE I HAD TO WALK EVERY 2 HOURS.I HAD A GREAT COACH MY HUSBAND HE WAS GREAT. I HAVE A FEW QUESTIONS WHAT AND HOW MUCH DO YOU EAT 3 DAYS POST OP AND DID YOU WALK WHEN YOU GOT HOME. DID YOU RUN A LOW FEVER? WHEN YOU GOT YOUR STAPES OUT DID IT HURT? I KNOW MY DRAIN HURT PRETTY BAD. HOW DO YOU TAKE YOUR VITIMANS I MIXED MY IN APPLESAUSE AND IT WAS HORRIBLE.

Welcome home Sherry! Glad to hear everything went well! Did your doctor give you an eating plan for post-op? It should say in that plan what you should be eating at this stage for the type of surgery he/she performed. Yes, continue to walk as often as you can once you are home! Walking is going to do more for your healing than just about anything else you do. Walking is very, very important. Continue to walk as often as you can and as far as you can. Also, be sure to take sips of water as often as you can, you really need to stay hydrated. I didn't have any staples so I can't help with that question. I take Flintstone Chewable vitamins and have since my surgery, I'm able to chew them and let the crumbs dissovle in my mouth before I completely swallow them. Follow what ever vitamins your surgeon recommended for you post-op, not all surgeons want their patients on chewables early out. Welcome home and KEEP WALKING! ~ Trish -70 pounds

Congratulations for being on the 'losing' side!! You'll be feeling tired for awhile - but don't worry that's normal. I know what you mean about sleeping - I'm a diabetic and they were in there all the time checking my sugars and giving me insulin..and I was walking on the day of surgery and after that. Walking keeps you from developing a blot clot - so no matter if you're walking across the room - back and forth - keep up with the walking - baby steps. That's nice you have your understanding husband - sounds like a 'keeper' (wink). For 2 weeks after surgery I was on liquids - following my nutritionist's guideline. I think I made have had a low-grade fever but it goes away. After 2 weeks I got the staples taken out - and for me - it was PAINFUL. The nurse had no mercy - however others have stated it was not for them. We all have different pain levels. I had open rny so i didn't have a drain or anything like that. On my vitamins I was taking Centrum and tried to swallow them whole but sometimes it was difficult so I would cut it up then i discovered the children's chewables and have tried that ever since. But not all pills are not chewables so I still take them whole..but pills don't bother me so long as i can gulp them. I used to take tylenol withou****er - but that's not possible now. But putting vitamins in food - does sound nasty - yuck! Ask your surgeon if you can tolerate chewables. Best of luck to you.
