Help!!!!! Acne Again!!!!
Hi Beverley
I haven't had the acne problem post-op from RNY but I did have it really bad when I had my son 15 years ago. I never had a problem with acne until I was pregnant and I had it so bad I scarred from it.
They told me then that when our hormones get out of whack acne can be a by product of that. When we lose weight quickly, our hormones do get out of balance, maybe that is what it is. I was told it would clear up when my hormones balanced out and it did, but it took about 6-8 weeks. You could probably go see your PCP about it or go see a dermatologist. Would your insurance cover that?
I'm sorry you are suffering with acne and I hope you get relief from it soon. Please keep us posted!

Ya know...I didn't think there could be a "connection" to WLS...I've always kinda got it near that time of the month however lately i've noticed more than anything and thought - "Dag, what is going on? And wonder if it could be related to this but thought it was silly. Thanks for asking the questions. I'm 6 months out - almost 7 and it just kinda started getting bad recently. I use alot of antiseptic but it's not helping - I hope I can normalize soon! It's not just for kids anymore!!
Good question, I too have had breakouts, which is not normal for me at all unless its that time of the month lol. I use Philosophy brand products which I found to help me out, I also try to exfoliate at least once a week. I had tried over the counter creams but didn't work, so i ordered from philosophy their acne treatment called on a clear day, I love this stuff, no irritation, redness at all plus dries up and clears up pimples within 2-3 days. Good luck and lets all hope it gets better.
