Roll Call and Updates
Hi my name is Lisa and I had my ONE YEAR ANNIVERSARY yesterday! As of a couple weeks ago I had lost 170 lbs. I started this journey at my highest weight of 419 lbs. I am now at 250. Wow! What an amazing experience! I look great, I feel great and I have never been so excited. I have a new lease on life. I can get on a plane and not feel so self conscience that I feel like crying. I have fun in everything I do now. People look at me differently, talk to me differently and lots of people call me slim. LOL I am FAR from slim. I am now in a 24 pant. I was too big to even wear women's clothes. A month after surgery I could wear a Women's 32. So, I have really come a long way! I can we are XXL top and that was just UNHEARD of! OMG! I know I need to get a new pic up. I will do that very soon. Hope you all are having a GREAT day!
Hi everyone my name is Tammy and I live in Daytona beach. I had my surgery on sept 15, 2004 with Dr. Rehnke in St. Pete. My starting weight was 343 the day before surgery and as of today I'm at 232, down 111lbs but I had also lost 12 lbs before I had the surgery so a total of 123lbs. I've gained so much back in my life: self esteem, confidence and a higher sex drive lol not too mention the fact I'm dating again, met a wonderful guy who likes me for me. This is the best decision I have made for myself in a very long time and would do it over again if I had too. I'm now wearing a size 18/20 pants, xl/xxl or 18/20 shirt depends on brand. I've been buying a few clothes, fitted ones too not baggy like I used to wear to try and hide myself. My surgeon has my goal set for 152lbs but I would be happy at 170, I'll wait and see. I joined the gym here at our hospital in jan when I was released for exercise: I go 5 days a week(or try too unless no babysitter if my daughter is out of school) I do cardio and weight training. I also walk and play with my daughter when she gets out of school, couldn't do that before. For anyone thinking and wondering if whether or not this surgery is right for them, I would tell you yes, its not an easy way out, we are given a "tool" to help us if we use it right it really does work. Just remember protein, water and exercise!!!!!! If anyone wants to chat they can email or IM me at [email protected]

Hi to All,
My name is Dawn and I had surgery on 9/23/04 with Dr. Raul Rosenthal at the Clevelnad Clinic in Weston,Florida. As of today, 7 months post-op, I'm down to 264. My pre-op weight was 399 so that's 135 pounds.
Before surgery, I suffered from severe sleep apnea, high blood, pain from arthritis in every crevice of my body, the list goes on. Everything has gotten much better. My PCP has lowered most of my meds and hopefully I will be off of all of it soon. The one thing that has been a blessing is the ability to be able to move without feeling like I'm going to pass out or to be out of breath. I still have aches and pains but nothing compared to what I had and at least now I don't have to take multiply doses of pain meds daily!
I never have posted any pics here so I guess I need to take care of that. Some of you know my husband Omar's story. You can check out his profile to see what an inspiration he has been to me. Short version of the story is that pre-op he weighed 525 and had been homebound for 6 years.
He currently weighs 195 and is 2 years post op.
Best wishes to all!
Sincerely,
Dawn
