I think we need to reintroduce ourselves and give everyone an update on your weightloss or status of your surgery/approval if you are pre-op. Hello! My name is Amy and I am a food addict, however today I am winning my battle ! My surgery was 6/02/2004 when I started at 432lb, today I am 262, life is good! I can walk, stand and live a normal life today without back pain and being out of breath all the time. I am no longer a slave to medication and can actually say NO to foods that held me captive in the past. I walk three miles 5x/week and actually am thinking of joining a gym (that makes me laugh ). I feel so blessed that my life has changed so much and I can't wait until I reach goal, even if it takes me years to get there. Have a wonderful Hump Day! Amy -170lb. P.S. When was the last time you updated your profile? Many people just lurk on this site (scaredy cats) and our profiles are a great source of information for them to see our journey, struggles and successes. Food for thought...

Funny you should ask about updating my profile. I just added a few words today and I've been fairly good about putting down little goals and little accomplishments. I'm Jan and I am at 152 today at 7-1/2 months out. I started at 240, so I'm down 88 lbs. I'm ready for a meeting this morning and I'm wearing a skirt, size small and a blouse, size 4. Think I'm happy about that? I would say so!!!! I've been going to a gym for some time now, and I wanted to find an activity I enjoyed that I might actually continue doing no matter what size I am. I found that in my step aerobics class. The timing is perfect, the other people in the class (both men and ladies) are very nice and supportive to each other, and the 3 instructors are all different which keeps the classes interesting. I need to update my picture in a big way and as soon as I can get my camera to work, I promise to make that a priority!!! Jan

I've been doing the Walk Away The Pounds DVDs in my home (up to 2 miles). I am so glad I had this surgery and would do it again in a heartbeat! I know there are so many more good things to come! Ugh, Hump day. I lurk all the time but just yesterday I am 9 months out. I actually go to BBW dances now with hubby. And I dance! Should have seen a friend try to help me dance to "Brick House". On the dance floor. In front of people. I have a ball now. I started out at 534 and am down 146 pounds to 388. My belly, underarms and the girls are a hanging, swaying mess, but hey, there are garments to help that! I used to take 9 meds a day and am down to 2. I don't mind public restrooms anymore because everything is reachable.. supersized folks, you understand this, don't cha? I am measuring inches lost, pounds gone and darn these clothes. Too big, some too little, changes taking place all the time. And just where is the perfect bra???????? My poor AMOS profile needs an updated photo, but there are some on my homepage. Blessings all! ~ Tina~

Well I am Tracey and I had my surgery 8-4-04...my rebirth and my middle childs birthday. I was 327 the day of surgery and now I am 194, so that is 133 pounds loss. I started out at size 26 pants, shirts 3x or 4x, I am now a size 14 which are getting loose and a lg shirt. I live for my wow moments now, my new found confidence pours out of me. I don't do a regular exercise program But I am always on the move...I have 3 children 2, 6 and 12 and til recently I was taking care of my father who was very ill. I was very busy, now I am moderately busy...so I will have to start an exercise program soon. This surgery has been the greatest thing I ever did. My father was so proud of me and what I have accomplished, he started calling me Slim before he passed away. Tracey P.S. I try to update atleast once per month, cuz I remember how it was lurking and learning about the surgery....I loved to read profiles!

Hi, I'm Sarah, my highest weight was over 502lbs. I had been water walking/swimming and changed my eating habits for about 7 months before I was able to find a place to weigh me...so it was higher. I had already gone down a size in undies by then. I also had lymphedema and began treatment before surgery so at my consult I was 462. Today I am about 330...that is the same as I was last May. So honestly this past year of starting a new job, relocating to FL from Ohio and dealing with a myriad of health problems I have not coped well and have turned to food in many cases. The good news is I'm stable and not gaining. I'm getting help and I hope I will get back on the right track soon. My lastest health issue...neuropathy. Last Wednesday I got tingling in my hands and by Sunday my feet were tingling also. So now I have more tests to go through. If I were a horse I would already be on my way to the glue factory! ~Sarah

Hey everyone and to you lurkers, come out come out wherever you are! I had surgery December 8, 2004 and am officially down 70 pounds as of my last PCP appointment. I'm not a slave to the scale and only use the scale in my PCP's office as my official weight loss gauge. I had many complications after surgery but you can read those in my profile. I am on a lot of medication still, but most of it is for potassium problems and ongoing lung problems. However, I'm OFF all of my osteoarthritis meds and just losing even 70 pounds has relieved the excrutiating back and hip pain I thought I would have to live with the rest of my life! It's been amazing not relying on pain medication to get through the day and sleep aids to help me sleep at night with the pain. I now look forward to going to the Marlins baseball games with my boyfriend instead of avoiding the stadium because I couldn't fit into the seats. I love going to the golf course and driving range with him because I don't feel so self-conscience about how I look. I love having a huge choice of clothes to wear because I wear a more normal size and can have a choice. I love that I don't feel like I'm wearing a tent. If I never lost another ounce (which I sometimes think I won't) I can at least say I'm happy, I'm living and enjoying life again. I'm free. ~ Trish

Hi, I'm Kristen and I am 5 1/2 months out from lap RNY on October 25, 2004. My heaviest weight (on surgery day) was 278. I am now 193 for a loss of 85 pounds! My surgeon would like to see me at 120, so I have 73 more pounds to go until I reach his goal. My goal, however, is 135 for 58 more pounds. We'll see where I feel better at - 135 or 120. I am no longer on medication, and I can move easier these days. I walk and swim for exercise 5-6 times per week. My life is so changed and I feel as though I just might be around now to watch my son grown up! I just updated my profile, but I need new pics... Kristen
