anyone a patient of Dr. Nye ???
Questions for anyone out there that is a patient of Dr.Nye. I'm waiting approval and would really like some input on what's ahead of me on my journey of weight loss. I had my consultation 2 weeks ago and I'm now waiting on the paperwork to be sent to my insurance company. I contacted the office today and they still have not completed the letter to be faxed to the insurance, how long does this normally take? Any advise would be great.
Thanks Jerrie

Jerrie, patience is a big thing to have right now and its the hardest thing to get a hold of.
When I had my surgery, from the date of my consult to surgery with Dr. Nye was 3 months. Now that was almost 3 years ago. His patient load has increased enormously and paperwork is not getting done as quick. While waiting patiently...just remember that they are working as hard as they can to get you processed. Dr. Nye does surgery 5 days a week, sees patients every afternoon, does the support groups and he and Rose have a couple of small children. The longest wait for me was the "insurance wait." Hope this helps!
You have picked the best doctor in NW Florida and he will take good care of you!
Best of luck!

Patty,
Thanks so much for the encouragement. It's hard, and normally I'm a very patient person, but I have never in my life wanted something so bad for "ME". I enjoy doing for others and now is the time in my life to think about me and what's best for my health. Thanks for the additional information. I wasn't aware just how busy he and Rose were, I'll look at things differently now, having 4 children of my own (all most grown). I've been to one of the support groups and really enjoyed it. Please keep in touch, you seem very informative.
Thanks,
Jerrie

Jennifer,
Thank you for the reply. Everyone that I talk to loves Dr. Nye and his staff. I know that I'm being worry wort, but at least everyone here knows exactly what I'm feeling and going through. And that's what makes it so nice being able to express your feelings with out sounding like a whinner. (sp?). I read your profile, very interesting, as for the name change of the doctor, will it let you change it in your profile update?
Thanks,
Jerrie.....(waiting to be on the other side)

Hey Jerrie,
I was just wondering if there was anyone here in the Panhandle area! Yea us!
I had my surgery with Dr. Nye 4 months ago. Yes, the staff is great and I must say that despite the EXTREME caseload of patients, they do get your paperwork done rather quickly. The insurance company is the one dragging their feet.
I had my consultation appt on Nov. 1 and I had my appoval on Nov. 9. My insurance is UnitedHealthcare and they have had their hands full with the folks on my job. (12 people in my department alone in the last year!
) So I think that's why they've been moving so quickly. It was explained to us that the insurance companies have to an answer to the doctor in no more than 10 days. Hopefully, you'll hear the great news soon!!

Hi Jerrie,
I know it must really test your patience during the period of waiting for the papers to get to the insurance company and then waiting for a reply back--a day probably seems like a week, huh?
I hope they can get on the ball and get you approved and scheduled soon. Good luck! I get excited when I see someone else is scheduled for surgery. Hoping my day will come sooner or later.
I'm not a patient of Dr. Nye yet...but I think I am getting to the point where I am ready to have a consultation with him soon. I've signed up for the WLS seminar at Sacred Heart in Pensacola for next Thursday. It is given by Dr. Jeffrey Lord who will be coming to SH this summer. Dr. Lord and Dr. Nye are the two docs I want to talk to as I contemplate the surgery. As far as I can tell they both are good.
