Surgery ith Medicaid???

Hi, I had surgery about 4 months ago and my sister recently had Medicaid approved since she just got layed off work and is in the middle of a divorce, well the question is has anyone had this surgery approved recently with Medicaid? I want to help her as much as I can in order for her to have this surgery. She is only 20 years old and is tipping the scales at 290+lbs. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Gesell

Is your sister in Florida? I have read that Dr. Cox in in the Ft. Lauderdale area accepts medicaid.

not sure with medicaid but i do know that if she plans on going to work she will lose medicaid like i did, they will put you on a program called share of cost. And its something like if you spend the amount they require you to pay, they will cover you for the month.. Like for example.. My share of cost was 980 a month, if i spent that amount for medical care after i would submit the paper work, they would approve for medicaid to pay for the rest of the month.. If you need any help with medicaid rules and regs you can ask me. Been on it and plus i was a case worker... for DCF

I'm going threw everything now with my sister... And were gonna use Dr Nye in Pensacola And when I called his office to see what all she needed to do before having the surgery they told she needed to do everything like everyone else but with medicaid they don't do no pre approven. You do everything your post to do then you go have surgery... Is what his office told me... So we have two more mths to go..... Hope I helped you.... Jennifer
