What is the average cost of a tummy tuck or lower body lift? I know I cant do anything until I get closer to goal, but I need to start crunching numbers and sorting out costs. Anyone have any idea? Amy

Hi Amy, I am looking at plastic surgeons now and for a tt its between 5-6 k, BUT if you have your breasts down or a thigh lift done at the same time you can get two procedures down for about 7500. Arms are usually 3-4 TT are sometimes covered by insurance IF you have had any rashes from an apron of skin. All of them said they could remove 15-18 lbs of skin!!!!! I would then be at my true goal!!!!!Cause this last 15 lbs just won't come off. Play the lottery...that is what I am doing..it's my only hope for having any plastic surgery...lol Take care Terese -130 8-19-03

Amy, when Cathy had hers done last year, Her abdominalplasty(t.t.) was $8,000.00. Her surgeon woudl not do the boob job at the same time, because the tummy tuck affects the boobs, so you do the tummy tuck first. Boob job with implants $6,000.00. Her quote for thighs, she did not have them done yet) $10,000.00.

But I wouldn't have the saggy skin without WLS, which my insurance approved. So logically - wouldn't insurance *need* to cover the plastic surgery since WLS *caused* the sagging skin? Thinking wishfully... Kristen

Hey, Amy - great meeting tonight, right!! Most informative. Anyway, I remember reading on Dr. Jawad's site that the charges $4,000 for arms, thigh and tt (separately of course). I didn't see anthing about boobs. There is a doc in Melbourne that a friend used..I will ask what he charges. Good luck to us...having to pay out of pocket for those types of surgeries is not an option for many people.

Yes, the psychologist was a great choice for the group! I am so glad he came and answered so many questions for us. I think he would be an excellent choice for anyone looking for someone to talk to post-op. I'm gonna keep him in mind for myself. I could handle spending $12K if it covered arms, thighs and a tt. So far the prices I've seen listed are much better than what I envisioned in my mind. I have a feeling I'll need more than a tt, but it's too soon to tell. Anyway, good luck to you in your continued WL journey. Take care, Amy -170lb.
