What type of exercise do you do?
Just wanted to get an idea of what kind of exercise everyone does. I have a membership to the gym, but rarely go. I find myself with the same excuses as preop....no time. Which I know I need to make time! But what do you think is best for you and more time effective...the gym, some type of home exercise, yoga, pilates, etc?
I walk 3 miles 5x/week in the early mornings before work. It hasnt been easy, I hate it every single day, but when I dont do it, I drag the rest of the day. When I am finished walking I feel a sense of accomplishment and pride that I did it. I would even walk further if I had more time in the morning but I have to be at work by 8am and getting up at 530am is as early as I am willing to do.
I am ready to start the gym thing again (had a YMCA membership that I really didnt use) and see if I can work on my "back fat", arms and legs and strengthen what I have to work with. I'm currently shopping gyms
I will say that one of our FL board members has been working out since she was released to do so and she probably wont need much PS at all, so don't wait too long to start because it does help significantly with toning as you are losing. I wish I started earlier but I didnt start walking until I was 5 months out.
Good luck!

As soon as I was cleared to work out I found a trainer because I just knew I couldn't do it alone. I need someone to hold me accountable. I wish I had the fortitude Amy has to get up at 5:30 to walk but I know myself and at this point I don't.
My trainer and I work out twice a week and once a week and then she gives me an assignment to do on my own. I'm only doing it about 50% of the time.
Our workouts consist of walking, I started at 1 mile and in 6 weeks I'm up to 3 miles. And we also do weight training. Because I'm still over 300 pounds she wants to take it slow to be sure I don't hurt myself.
What I like about my trainer is: she's fun, she's a triathelete and she had gastric bypass surgery 6 years ago! She knows what I'm going through.
You can look her up on obesityhelp. Her name is Melissa Daly.
Good luck with whatever you choose.

I really have to hand it to Amy. There's no way in the world that I'd stick to doing something I didn't enjoy!!! I go to step aerobic classes, but only went once last week and today I feel blah!! I can't WAIT to get back there on Monday! I wanted to find something I enjoyed and those classes are IT for me!!

I love water aerobics went to them about 2x a week back in Ohio. Other days I would go to the gym and do eliptical mostly, sometimes bike and treadmill, but eliptical burned more calories and was more fun then treadmill and my legs were so big they hit the bike unless I put my feet on the outer edge of the pedals.
Down here I haven't found a water aerobic program close by and in my time frame. The country club used to have an early morning one, but no more, they are looking to have an evening one in June. So until then I am left to my apartment pool and my noodle doing the exercises on my own. Did it this morning and like Amy, afterwards I feel soooo good.
I bought a treadmill, therabands, and a ab thingy, also a trampoline. I try to do abs everyday and the therabands occasionally but I do go the gym (Ballys) pretty faithful (although that wasn't always the case). I run on the treadmill with fast walking and sometimes do the fat burning mode or bike. I also have a personal trainer who will be with me for 6 months (but only have 8 more sessions with him) though I keep everything in a notebook so when I'm done with him I can follow my own program. Sometimes I walk with my mom too. Every little bit helps. I tried getting up in the mornings but that is TO difficult!!
