New RNY in Tampa
I had surgery on 2/23/05 and on my one month I was 47 lbs lighter. I have really been afraid to get on the scale since then. It's only been two weeks but what if I haven't lost anything. I had surgery in New Orleans but live in Tampa. I went home b/c my parents live there and my mom could take care of me. I soon realized why I moved from New Orleans. Everything revolves around food. Any good support groups for Tampa area? Do you feel it is beneficial to attend support groups? Love to hear from anyone.
Hop on the scale, Girl! I'm sure you will be pleasantly surprised! I used to weigh myself daily, now I do it about once a week, helps keep me focused, but that is just me. I also think support groups meetings are great for keeping us in check and also to share the good, bad and ugly about WLS. I hope you will find a group or two to attend meetings and find much needed support and friendship.

Support groups are very beneificial throughout your whole weight loss journey.
I am attending a newsupport group in the Tampa area tomorrow night. I will get the details and forward them to you. Actually you resemble a profile of a girl that I heard about from a friend of mine....Debra?
Do you work with her? She had a band about 2 months ago and told me about a girl from LA that had RNY and was thinking about going to the support group with us....are you her? LOL
Don\\\'t be afraid of the scale...you will be very surprised at your results with the RNY.
Take care

Hi Jackie,
Congrats on your weight loss... Yes eventually it slows down- but we do keep loosing. I am a member of a great support group on tomorrow night from 5:30-6:30p at St joseph's hospital. It will be located in the medical arts building. If interested- send me an email and I will give the specifics.
Keep up the great work

Congratutlations!! That's amazing!! Good luck on your search for support group - it's all good - but remember that the people there are talkiing about their experiences or things they have heard - don't put to much heart into everything said, and always double check medical info with the doc. This one woman freaked me out saying I had stretched my pouch or stoma but after talking to the doc - discovered it wasn't true. So while it's nice to meet people and get information you want to think carefully everything you hear. But they are beneficial cause you can learn alot.
