Hi Kathy~~ I totally can understand about the losing weight than being afraid of gaining it before while waiting to go back to the surgeon or waiting for approval.... I am on the South Beach diet as ordered by my surgeon before I go for my final visit to her hopefully pre-surgery... I have done so well on it...14 pounds in 3 weeks... However, the last few days I had no choice but to go off of it and eating carbs...I felt the difference; and feel as if I gained it all back...I know I haven't...its just my crazy head giving me wrong messages...I was able to go back on it this morning...and I hope I can stay on it until I see the doc next month...So you are not alone! I hope you get approval real soon...How long have you been waiting?

I've been waiting since the beginning of January. I did not go to the surgeon I chose until Feb. 14th.. He's my Valentine Present. He says I'm ready, I say I'm ready but Aetna says 3 months multidisc. program before submitting request. that will be May 15th. I go today to be weighed in and see Dr. Yasrebi. I'm drinking water and eating micro spoons of peanut butter to try and not have much volume before being weighed in. I love South Beach. Have you tried the new lunchables by them? They are great.

Hi Kathy~~ I haven't had any of South Beaches diet foods.. however, I pretty much have stayed on the level 1 of the diet so that I can prove to the surgeon that I am serious. I weighed myself today at the bank (my weight; not my money) and I am down a total of 21 pounds...it would be funny if I continue to lose and then be to low to get the surgery. I now weigh 230. I know that if I went off this diet my weight would go right back to the 250's. Plus even though I have lost weight; my bad cholestrol has not changed...nor my blood pressure and all the other modalities remain. Your lucky that you just went in February to the surgeon and you are complete and ready to go..except for the multidisc. program.. I am going from one appointment to the next...I'm exhausted.

congratulations on your decision to do this...waiting is the easy part - there is so much to do - and remember that you have a lifetime to continue this journey even though right now it seems "forever". You're doing great if you've lost some weight before surgery - I never did - and the night before taking the citrate (to clean me out) I had 2 days of light foods etc so that it would hurt my tummy or bottom. So keep yourself busy and the time will be here before you know! Keep us posted as to your surgery date!! congrats again!

I'm trying to keep busy. I had my appointment yesterday. I had lost 9 more pounds in 3 weeks. He was very pleased. He is scheduling my consent meeting in which you have to bring your support person and he goes through everything that could go wrong, what you have to do, etc. So even though I love instant gradification, (that's how I got to my size), Things are moving along. I just don't know how long I can stick to this pre op diet without becoming full. 100 + ounces of H2O a day helps. and Obesity Help Line members really help! Thanks.
