DOC who accepts medicaid?

Hi everyone ! I am new here and I am trying to locate a doctor who accepts medicaid. And how well are they at approving the surgery? If any of you can be of any assistance I would greatly appreciate it. I look forward to getting to know you all. Thanks Rhonda

hi . i had surgery on 1-19-05 my doctor is Dr Cox . he is in ft lauderdale his phone number is 954-928-0066 . he is great . a very speial and gifted doctor . carey , who runs the office is a blessing . he rocks !!! any questions i had he answered and he is just on top of everything . i found dr cox and had my pcp give me a referal for him and the heart and lung doctor that works with dr cox . he also gave me one for the nutritionist and for the physic eval but both of those i had to pay for out of pocket . (the nutrition class was 50.00 and the eval was 250 .00 ) i went to the classes and nutrition class and did the info seminar on 10/28/04. i could not get my appts scheduled until 11/09/04 so i had to go down for the day did all three in one day . they all cleared me for surgery by 11/22/04 carey sent in my paperwork the tuesday before thanksgiving and i was approved by the next tuesday. i got a date of 1/19/05 by the first week of december . so for me the approval took less than a month from start to finish. since i live more than 2 hours away i had to stay at a hotel in the area until my g-tube was removed . i am now a little more than 2 mths out and have lost 114 pounds. i am so happy i had surgery. the next date for classes is 4-28-05 if you are intrested carey can sent you a packet of all the information . i will be going to the support group and meeting that night as it is my 3 mth check-up also . if you have any questions feel free to contact me good luck tina -114

Hi Rhonda~~ Dr. Patricia Byers accepts Medicaid. She is part of UMH (in Miami). I had to wait over 2 years to get to see her though. There is a long waiting list for Medicaid patients. I am in the process of going through all of the testing and hopefully will have surgery sometime early summer. I found her to be very thorough and wanting the best for her patients.

Dr. Cox only does the open surgery... I wanted to heal faster, so I went with another surgeon who does lap, but unfortunately, he doesn't accept medicaid. I had to spent a little more out of pocket than I thought, but I am making it so far! Blessings, Kelley
