home from the hospital
I came home Saturday evening. Boy, what an experience. I've never had surgery of any type so I didn't know what to expect even with my sister having had this surgery. The worst part was the NG tube. Oh, it was horrible. Once, they took it out I felt better. Right now, I'm sleeping in a chair because my bed is uncomfortable. I keep wanting to sleep on my side and that is impossible. I'm adjusting to the food routine. I'll be glad when I can walk upright. I feel like the hunchback of Notre Dame. The only other discomfort I have is when I cough or laugh. I am always laughing so I have to be careful. Anybody that says this surgery is the easy way out is crazy!
Wishing success to everyone who has had surgery and those who are still trying.
Tiana - congratulations to being on the losing side. Adjusting is the name of the "game". It's gonna seem like forever when you'll be able to turn on your side and get back to "normal" If you have any questions let me know!! Take it easy - but keep up with the walking. This is an all important to keep (slowly) moving and keep up with your liquids.
I remember thinking that it was like childbirth: you feel good in the hospital, but then you come home...
Keep moving around and remember your liquids. It does get better - promise! I too remember that the NG tube was the worst part. Are you holding a pillow to your side when you cough or laugh?

Tiana,
I'm 9 weeks out and let me assure you that for me it got better very quickly. After a week I was going out on a field trip every day and at 2 weeks I could sleep on my side or stomach which was heaven! I think what helped me the most was that I moved a lot. I did laps around my house!
Good luck and stay connected.
