Hello all! I have been doing research on people who have Lap-Band done that are over 50 BMI. Has anyone had any experiences with this? I myself am considering it, and with a BMI of 59 I would like advice if anyone has some! Most patients prefer RNY or DS because there is more of a weight loss. I am looking to only lose 100-130 lbs which is about what people generally can lose with the band. Let me know here or at my email [email protected]. Thanks!!! Kim

Hey there! I am ok. Doing a lot of soul searching to figure out what I want to do about surgery and researching all of my options. HOw have you been? Any success on finding a surgeon? Kim

I have decided I want to have the DS. I have found that Dr. Maguire in Ohio accepts my insurance and seems well respected by his patients. Now I just have to work out all of the logistics of having surgery so far from home.

Hey Kim, You might want to check out the Lap Band message board and/or post on the main board (if you havent already). Hope you get some answers or advice. Amy

Hey there! Thanks for the info! How are you doing? It sounds like on your profile you are feeling great! Congrats!!! I am going to try and make it tomorrow. I have to see what time my fiance will be called into work and see if he can drive me. I got new glasses that are not adjusted yet and I am afraid to drive in them!!! I should be there. Thanks again for the suggestions! Kim

Hi Kim, my BMI was 54 when I had my Lap Band surgery. I'm 5 weeks post op and down 40 pounds. I did have some swelling issues when I first had the surgery but other than that, I guess I'm progressing normally. Feel free to contact me any time - [email protected]
