question about medicaid
Hello Sheila,
Yes medicaid does pay for surgery, if it's medically necessary. I believe there is a Dr. Accepting medicaid in Jacksonville or Gainesville, maybe someone here knows of this Dr. better than I. But I do know for sure that Dr. Cox in Ft. Lauderdale accepts medicaid his # 954-928-0066 talk with Carey the sec. and have him mail you an info. packet. I wish you the best of luck!
Always,
Johanna

Hi Sheila, I work in a doctor's office, and have done billing for past 16 years. Most of my patients are medicaid patients. Medicaid does cover weight loss surgery, the problem is finding a physician who accepts Medicaid, because the reimbursement is so low! Here in Tampa, Dr. Murr takes Medicaid, but only a few number of cases each year! usually by February that number has been used up! Good Luck, you might also want to look into Vocational Rehab, I think more doctors take that than Medicaid.
