Good Evening, I have been fighting with my insurance company for over a year. I finally have my date. I will be having surgery in 2 weeks 3/24/05 with Dr. Overcash in Ocala. I was really impressed with this man. Any advice is welcome. I would like to know about some of the things you took to the hospital for your stay or you wish you have taken.

Tiana, Congrats on your surgery date! I bet you are excited, your persistence and patience definitely paid off. I have lots of info on my profile in regards to my experience with Overcash and the hospital stay. I have no regrets and am doing great so far (9 months out). Good luck to you and please keep us posted on your journey. Amy -161lb.

Tiana, Congratulations My thoughts and prayers will be with you. As far as what to take to the hospital... I wish I would have taken a small fan; Don't waste your money on pjs, you'll end up wearing the hospital gowns because of the i.v., but, do take something comfortable for the ride home Dru

Woohoo!! Tiana! Congratulations. Please read my profile as well. Dr. Overcash was/is my doc as well. He knows his stuff for sure. One important thing to be ready at the hospital is to take lip balm, Dr. O keeps the NG tube til your last day in the hospital so you're lips will get very dry. I had my hospital gown and slippers. My mom stayed with me and she was able to sleep confortably in a chair that folds out to a bed. If you are having someone have them take a bedsheet and pillow and clothes to change. Update your profile or page so that I can keep tabs on you and your recovery. Don't forget to walk, walk, walk!! And congratulations on your decision. Will be praying for you.

Congratulations and Good Luck, I personally know how nerve racking that battle w/ the insurance can be! To me one of the most important things in the hospital were the wipes and chapstick! I took books and stuff but had no energy to read them and my pj I never took it out.
