Trigger Foods

Reading the posts it seems like a lot of people have sweets as a food they crave. I am just the opposite. I crave carbs. Chips, crackers, peanuts, or anything salty. What are you trigger foods and how do you keep from reacting to the trigger? Thanks, Kat

I don't keep the foods that trigger me or that I crave in the house if at all possible. However, I can crave all I want, but most of the things I crave make me so sick there is no way I could eat them. I try to take my mind off of food when I start craving something. I drink water, I read a book, I try to remove myself from whatever situation I'm in. For example, if I'm watching TV in the living room and I start craving something, I'll go into another room and do a crossword puzzle or something. I'll make a nice, hot tea or a cup of coffee or something. Most of the times, it's just my head-hunger trying to play tricks on me!

Sweets were always my downfall. Give me one bite of a Krispy Kreme and I have to have the full dozen. These days when my family goes in for donuts I'm satisfied with my decaf coffee w/splenda. No desire for the sugar. I'm not completely innocent though..........every once in a while I eat a bite of chocolate......like a Hershey kiss. I'm amazed at the difference in my food choices. It's crazy.......my cravings now are for FFcottage cheese and SF jello! LuvitsunnyVB~lo/goal

Thank goodness my craving for certain food is not necessarliy sweets or carbs. But I have found out I can portion the amount, maybe take a bite or 2 and go on my way. Satisfy the craving and not worry about it. I think I want shrimp, have one or 2 and that is enough. It is the same with most foods. Bear in mind though, that I am at goal and have been told to maintain.
