Hello!!! Well today I am 23 days post op and doing really with the exception of being a little tired, but I can deal with that! My question is I am on not a regular diet, but just a tad above a soft diet, if that makes any sense. I have been able to eat just about anything (with the exception of mashed or baked potatoes). I know I am eating small portions, but are they small enough?? I do try to measure my meals, but my Dr's office just wants me to eat till I recognize the full feeling or the begning stage of being satisfied. Now something I eat I am full immediatly!! And other things I can eat and eat...well not that much but I would think more than 3-4 oz. For example today I ate... Breakfast (this took me over a half hour to eat) 2oz lean turkey ham 3/4 of an oz of cheese 1 oz of a bannana Snack 1 cracker with 1 tsp peanut butter (had two of them, but didn't want the other) Lunch 1oz lowfat refried beans 1oz 98% lean ground beef 1oz cheese melted Snack 3/4 of an oz of cheese 1oz brocoli 1 oz bananna Dinner 2oz of chicken and rice (didn't like it) Snack 1oz toast with 1 teaspoon peanut butter Then all throughout the day I have been drinking water...up to 50oz right now. When you add up the calories they aren't much to speak of, but it just seems like I am eating to much or to frequently. I don't make myself miserable I just eat till I am full. I really think there is something wrong with me...despite loosing 25lbs already. I just don't want to fail again...can anyone help me??

Sounds like a nice variety and not too much at any one time if want my opinion. Sounds like you made some good choices, but I would concentrate more on the protein and less on the banana. You might want to use Fitday.com to track your choices and portions and it will tell you how many calories, grams of protein, etc. you've had. I've found it to be a wonderful tool. Jan

A friend of mine who had the surgery and lost 200+ pounds told me her doctor told her to eat protein first and the fruit or vegatable but after 20 minutes she should stop eating. She still follows that rule today and has been very succesful. Just food for thought! Rhonda

That is a good idea...I might try that!! I just don't want to be the one idiot who screws up a good thing!! Each day I also feel as though I don't need to eat huge amounts, just enough to sustain me. Thanks again for the advice...I will try that tomorrow! Brandy

Hey Brandy! We have the same rebirthday! yay! LOL Well, I think you have a nice variety of food, and I wouldn't get too worried about eating too much. And, I think you are doing awesome on the water! If it really concerns you, ask your nutritionist. I was just allowed this week to try foods. So far, I haven't been able to get as much variety in as you--but I am working on it. (All surgeon's plans are different) Today I have had so far: Breakfast 1 peach protein shake AM Snack 1 Carb control vanilla yogurt with 1 teaspoon ground flax seeds Lunch 1 peach protein shake Snack 2-3 oz cottage cheese mixed with canned pears in water with a sprinkle of cinnamon and I plan on having for Dinner 2-3 oz of baked Tilapia green beans if I'm not full and pm snack SF applesauce with ground flax seeds And the water so far today I have had about 35 oz and 16 oz lactaid I can start adding more variety as the week goes on...but like i said, it sounds like you are doing good. Good luck and keep us posted!! If you ever wanna compare or chat email me! -Phoenix 277/249/150
