I have a date

April 4 with Dr. Sosa in Miami!! I go do lab work on March 17, then go on vacation for my 10th anniversary, come home for a week and then surgery. I go see the psych on March 16. I'm concerned about the pull of sugar on my life. I've heard a lot of people talk about the sugar-free popcicles/jello post op. Does that make the craving for sugar harder to get through??

Jennifer, Congrats on your date! It will be here before you know it. As for the sweets craving.... I ususally want something to snack on about 9:30 each evening and that is when I usually eat SF popcicles or SF jello. I haven't had too hard a time resisting sweets b/c I am so afraid of dumping! I've even been able to stick to the food plan with 2 of my absolute favorites in the house - Girl Scout cookies & Reese's peanut butter "Eggs". I think I fear dumping more than I crave the goodies. I will say that these are the first "tempting" foods I have let come into the house (I bought them for my family to enjoy). But for the most part, I'm just not letting my trigger foods into the house. Good luck with your journey & keep us posted on your progress! Vickie J. PS - My tip for new post-ops: Eat with a seafood fork (or baby spoon). By using the seafood fork you take very small bites b/c you just can't get much on the fork. I've never seen this tip anywhere else, but it sure works great for me!
