Hi I just want to thank everyone who wrote me about keeping me in their prayers. I am very nervous and excited about this surgery. I went shopping today for my vitamins and I got a little confused on something. I purchased a bottle of LiquiMax Complete nutrition and it has b12 of 12mcg I was told that I need b12 500 mcg and I don't know if that is daily or monthly. If anybody knows can you please let me know? Also congratulations to all pre-ops and post-ops.

Best wishes for a successful surgery without complications! As far as the vitamins and supplements go, you won't take them right after surgery. I believe my surgeon started me when I had my staples out and that gave me some time to buy exactly what I needed. I would suggest you speak to your surgeon or his nurse about what they would like you to take, each one has different views but your lab results are the true test of what you will need down the road. FYI: I take one subligual b12 (Twinlabs brand) about 5x week and so far so good. Good luck again on your surgery and please keep us posted on your progress. Amy

My doc has me on 500 mcg of B12 each day but you won't need your vitamins until after your post-op visit with your surgeon so you have plenty of time to double check with the doc. Good luck tomorrow! Vickie J.

Sharonda - my prayers are with you! Be excited - wonderful things will become of this - a new life for example. It won't be a piece of cake initially but once that period has passed you will be glad to begin your new life. Congratulations to you!! For vitamins - 2 weeks post ops my doc recommends any 2 vitamins (I take 2 childrens' chewable) and one B150 (that covers all the B vitamins) and an iron pill. I would assume the vitamins with the most milligrams would be helpful - but always check with the doc or nutritionist. Keep us posted on your progress!!
