Is it normal to not have a period for awhile after surgery?

I had my open rny on 9/29/04 and didn't have it for Oct but then it came in November and so forth. Everything is okay. Not sure if that had anything to do with it. Sometimes I do skip a month. I'd wait to see if in March you get anything.

I was the opposite. My surgery was Dec 20th 05 and I got my period WHILE I was in the hospital. Like I needed more trouble in the bathroom! LOL

I was beginning to wonder the same thing, I had my surgery in early Dec but with many complications including a leak and another surgery a week later and still have not had one since before the surgeries.

Jennifer, I stopped my period in 1985 after surgery for endometriosis and my left ovary was removed. Mind you it was exactly 20 years to the date I had my WLS which was 2/8/05. Ten minutes before I was discharged I started a period and doctor told me hormones are definately effected with WLS. I just pray I don't start to have my period again. Its been 20 years of no cramps and heavy bleeding.

It depends on you and your harmones. To be safe, it would be best to check with your gyn.
