Tallahassee WLS Support

Are there any support groups in the Tallahassee area that are unaffiliated with a particular surgeon or are open to anyone?

I've recently relocated to Tallahassee.  I had a great support group in Jacksonville and I'd love to find the same here.  I'm also looking for a primary doctor familiar with bariatric patients so any recommendations would be great. 

I have CHP through the state for insurance, but I had a gap in insurance coverage, so I'm not sure I'd be able to go with a bariatric surgeon or program for my yearly post-surgery follow-ups as it may be an exclusion or considered a pre-existing condition.

Hi Ashley, I can't help you with the support group, but I can with a doctor. I have Dr. Lisa Cook. She's at CHP on Centerville. She's most excellent and understands our special needs. I'd find out if she's taking new patients. The bariatric surgeon in town is Dr. Sieloff - he did my RNY revision. He was good at the time, but he has basically told me he can't help me for any of my current problems, so I'm going to Shands. Best of luck!
