Need info on Port Charlotte, PLEASE!

Hi everyone, A few weeks ago, I got some great replies to my post about visiting Florida. I fell in love with Florida and am planning on moving there. I have been looking at apartments online and I stumbled across a city called Port Charlotte. Can anyone give me information on this city? How is the crime rate? Are the schools good? Is this considered a nice area or is it a typical city that has good and bad areas? Any advice at all would be greatly appreciated! Thanks so very much in advance! I am coming to Florida in May and will be hopefully going on interviews. I booked my flight so I will be busy getting my resume ready to mail out before I arrive.
