Hey all! I will be a week post-op tomorrow and have been keeping track of my intake everyday. I was just wondering if anybody else did the same or can remember how many ounces of fluid they got in each day. My nutritionist said that I am to have 2 ounces every hour. I am going to see her again on wednesday so I can verify everything, but I was just checking if I am sipping enough. I feel fine, but when I look at my chart, I had 18 ounces of water yesterday, 3 SF popsicles, 1 ounce of jello, and 9 ounces of juice. How much did you gus get in? I am trying. Well, thanks everybody! -Phoenix

Phoenie: Congratulations on crossing over!!! Whooo!! Glad everything is going great for you. When I started I was on 2 oz every 2/3 or 3/4 hours. I did some cream of chicken soups, crystal light, jello, popsicles - not sure..it seems so long now. But you seem to be doing GREAT!! Don't forget to take those baby steps - walking okay. And don't forget the vitamins. Everything esle went fine?

Thanks! and yes, everything else went fine! I have my first post op visit on Wednesday next week, so I am excited to hear what he has to say. It looks like I will be going back to school after next week too, provided everything moves the way it has been. I spoke with my patient care coordinator today and she said to start all my protein shake stuff today too, so I am going to get on that. Maybe that's why I was feeling so sleepy...lol. Well, thanks again and thanks everyone for their answers, I really appreciate it! -Phoenix

Glad to hear you are doing okay. It is a great journey. I was supposed to get in 64 oz of fluid a day and they recommended sipping pretty much all the time. If I put in broth or something warm, it seem to help me relax and I could get in more liquid. It is just a patience game. At first, it seemed all I did was keep up with eating or drinking or walking but by the end of the first month, things get better. Just relax and know that it is happening and you are a LOSER!!!!!! Good luck Carol

Phoenix, My doc requires a minimum 48 oz. liquid each day. I just sipped all day long. However, when I started on foods, it was harder to get in all my fluids. I've got a routine down pat now so I can get in 3 "meals" and at least 48 oz. fluid. Hang in there - you'll get into a routine soon and that will help! Vickie J.
