Sacred Heart Hospital is opening a Full Bariatrics Clinic. our hospital will start performing gastric bypass and wls soon. I had my surgery done at Baptist Hospital By DR. Nye 2 months ago. Oh Well to late for me to have it done there since that is where I work. 43 lbs gone forever.

Good news! I am hoping to move there by this summer, any advice regarding surgeons who'll be practicing there? Insurances, etc? Thanks!

Momma Smith, I just wanted to give you info on another surgeon in the Pensacola area who does a true laparascopic procedure. His name is Dr. Robert Althar and he is located in Milton, FL, just 15 minutes from Pensacola. I have UnitedHealthcare, but I know he takes Blue Cross and Tricare. this place is still a wreck from hurricane ivan. as far as dr's I love dr nye . i have been a nurse for over 10 years and i wanted the dr with the most to offer and the most expe incision is only 2 inches. he also took out my gall bladder at he same time. he has been doing them sice 1978 and only 7 people have expired most do to blood clots. he has done over 2300 i do not know anything about this surgeon who is coming to sacred heart hospital we have never done this procedure there. i do know he has done over a 1000 of wls but what type the artical said less invasive wls. dr nye has his practice at baptist hospital. i love him. i'm only 2 months post op 43 lbs gone forever

Any chance they will be doing the DS there. I have decided I really want the DS and since only one doc in Florida does it and he has only done 20 I guess I will be going out of state. That really bites.

Hey Michelle. I heard from my doctor at SHMG that the doctor is from Virginia that's coming but has only done 200 bypasses. That's just from what she told me. I didn't see any article. Was it in the news journal? Stephanie
