I am six weeks post op. The wish center suggested that I use their shake since it contains all of the vitamins, minerals and supplements I need and no additional vitamins are needed. I was on Optifast fifteen years ago and drank a similar shake three times a day for six months. I could at least chug the shake. Sipping a terrible tasting shake is pure torture. Personally I prefer to eat my protein, soooo---I went out and got the vitamins----centrum chewable---sublingual B-complex and calcium citrate. I want to start adding additional protein sources---snacks etc. I have added yogurt and cottage cheese and fruit (in juice) so far. Looking for other suggestions and possibly a good low carb protein bar for snack. Any suggestions greatly appreciated !!
Post Carbwell bars in the cereal aisle of the grocery and they have 9 grams protein. Also make Carnation Breakfast drinks with milk. Powder has 5grams protein and milk (2%, skim ) have 8 grams. Not bad for a drink and you can add powdered milk to it and boost your protein to 21grams or more.
Quaker makes a breakfast bar with about 9 grams of protein also. I just couldn't deal with the protein drinks and so I went this way.
Good luck

Do you like fish? I know that my husband and I LOVE tilapia, and i noticed the taste is not fishy like some others. When baked, it is so soft and falls apart. Plus, fish is loaded with protein, so you might want to try it. Just wash the filets, season them the way you like, and stick it in the oven for 7-10 minutes under 350. It's easy, yummy, and soft. Hope this helps!

Hi, I found a protein shake and protein bar that I really enjoy....it helps me get in the extra protein I need. The hospital here sells them in their fitness center where i go, plus the weight loss patients use them.
They are called PureProtein by Worldwide 35grams of protein, 4grams of carbs, 2grams of sugar. They come in 4 flavors....straw, vanilla, chocolate and banana and the protein bars come in a variety of flavors but have more carbs and sugars. I've tried several shakes and these are the best for me so far. GNC carries them, they run about 2.99 a can but to me worth it. Anyways good luck and keep up the great job.
